I think that's the thing that is kind of weird. Everyone understands the INTs vs A&M and so-so performance at the end of last season. But it's like there's something else going on behind the scenes that we don't know about that is also part of the reason KP isn't touching the field.

Maybe KP challenged June to a steel cage match and won. June vowed he would not play another down because of the beat down he suffered.

Not sure that' fair...June looks like he's really enjoying the food Dallas has to offer...and who says he's not loyal to SMU/Dallas?

There is no loyalty in this industry. It is a job.

This is true, but there is no loyalty from either side. It is all money. This isn't college athletics, these are colleges that also own minor league teams.

Does anyone know the story of WHY June came to SMU? It's not just a job to him but a calling.

KP was 3-6 in his last starts, after two years of play and Mcd is 3-0 in his first 3 SMU starts....and guess what? Mcd didn't pick the teams he was going to play, so let see what he does in the next two important tough games. Mcd made mistakes like all QB's today, but he still looked cool in the game and didn't appear flustered, and the final score was 42-0. Its nice to have an experienced QB in the wings...and hope KP is mentally ready when he has to play, because he will. Wet blanket be damned...SMU is 3-1 for the first time since 1992 ( almost 20 years) and first shut out since 1998, and the other years when we DIDN'T go 3-1, we also had patsy's on the early schedule.

Over 500 yards of offense and we're sputtering with JJ at the helm?!...You guys are ridiculous. We put up 42 points to their 0 tonight and you criticize someones leadership from behind a tv screen. The entire team had a great day, including JJ. Get over it! We had a redshirt freshman in there today (not playing slot, which is a HUGE challenge in this offense) and he had over 100 yards and a TD. Beasley is going to be out next week and the offense will continue to get better.
The sole export of Chuck Norris is pain

I didn't like the way JJ moved after we scored, and everytime we did he threw the ball side armed, and I don't like the way he wears his pants. Put in KP

I am going to reserve any judgment of JJ overall until he plays a real opponent. He had a solid game today, but against the worst defense in D1 that doesn't impress me. He is calm and collected, but his longer throws look like they are moving in slow motion. The one long TD he had only happened because the Memphis CB didn't look for the ball; he turns his head and it is at least a knockdown if not an INT. For folks who say he has more zip in practice, he needs to bring it to the game. In this way, both KP and JJ have the same problem in that practice is not carrying over to game time performance. All that said, I can't fault anyone who throws for over 300 yards and 3 TD's so he gets to continue to drive the bus. As coach said, "winning is what defines who starts" (paraphrasing). But this performance by JJ will not cut it against TCU or any upper-tier CUSA team, so he needs to step it up or he will be back on the bench in a flash.
I was glad to see much better hands by the WR's today (though TW looked shaky, and that is being charitable). If the O-line continues to hold, the WR's continue to show better hands, and Zach continues to be a running God, all the pieces are now in place for JJ to either show he can run this team at QB, or that he is nothing more than capable backup. If JJ struggles early against TCU and doesn't get pulled (ala KP against the Aggies), then that opens up a whole new list of questions. I really hope something clicks this week in practice for JJ now that he has had two warm-up games; if not, Kyle has to get another shot and see if he has settled down and learned anything in his time on the pine.
