Improving. You know how coaches say teams need to "learn how to win"? Apparently that applies to fans, too.
Re: JJ McDI didn't read all the pages but I like our chance to beat tcu---if both our offense & defense play 4 qtrs of turnover free football. If Mcd is going to be our qb I want him to get as much playing time as possible. I think today's victory could be huge for us mentally.
KICK 'EM MUSTANGS!!!!
Re: JJ McD
You didn't miss a thing.
Re: JJ McDJJ McDermott threw for 357 yards, more than any other Division 1 qb, and led SMU to a 42-0 victory. Not such a bad day. When was the last time Mustang fans were so upset about a lopsided win?
Personally, I'd rather win by six touchdowns than lose. Last edited by Donnell88 on Sun Sep 25, 2011 11:09 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: JJ McD
lol!!! try last week!!
Re: JJ McDThat's right, we HATE beating the heck out of teams we're supposed to beat! It's just not the Mustang Way! I am really looking forward to seeing how JJ performs against the horny toads next week. If he puts up a solid game against them, I will start to become a believer. As for the rest, I can get used to a lock-down defense, an other-worldly RB, and finally seeing us not overlooking an opponent and stomping them the way we should be. Don't know about some members who have been around longer than I have, but for me this is certainly uncharted territory, and I think I could learn to like it here!

GO MUSTANGS!!!!
Re: JJ McDMaybe the old ball coach at SMU is falling back on the very basic premise in football...play the guys who can produce victories. Victory doesn't always go to the biggest or fastest or whomever has the strongest arm...sometimes they go to the guy who has the biggest heart and just has a knack for doing the right thing at the right time! Even the greatest talent evaluators in the world have problems...ie Tom Brady drafted in the sixth round, Wes Welker, Drew Brees, Tony Romo.......Robert Griffin lll, Lance Mcellheney, on and on and on! No knock on any other qb because they all have to be good at this level! As Bart Starr once said, "one of the saddest things about football is opportunity coming your way and you aren't ready for it." Be ready for when your time comes!
Re: JJ McD
yes, we've been on the other side of this many times and looked as bad as memphis did. not too long ago, short memory most have..
Re: JJ McD
Very true. We have come a long way in both expectations in the stands and the play on the field. Put me in the padron camp; I think he is better, but that being said you can't replace McD while he is winning and being productive. I just wish padron had played some in the blow out. JJ had to be tuning him up for TCU and that is why padron didn't play. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: JJ McDJones post game: "I was going to put Kyle in...but "..
on the other side, he never gave JJ any playing time last year. What 4-5 snaps all year? The only thing I was ticked about was the careless throw INT on the sideline. Last edited by GiddyUp on Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: JJ McDYes, McD has played against patsies the last three games, but the bottom line is that he has improved in each of those games. I like KP but it seems he plateaued in Hawaii. I thought it was because he was injured last year so I cut him some slack. For all we know, he may still be nursing an injury.

Re: JJ McD
If TW doesn't change is pattern, wonder if June would put Keenan in TW's spot. Thats the position he played last year anyway.
Re: JJ McD
Do we know how bad Keenan's injury is? -- ive been pretty disappointed in Wilkerson thus far.
