this one is going to be a Classic folks- this Adrian Peterson kid is the real deal and on his way to a 1500 yard freshman season. The closest thing I've seen to Eric Dickerson-maybe better-at least as a freshman This kid is going to shatter a lot of records if he can remain healhy. I'd be surprised if he ain't in the NFL within 2 years. Just to watch the athleticism of guys like Vince Young and Adrian Peterson should be worth the price of admission.
I enjoyed hearing Cedric Benson talk about how he wishes to win the Heisman more than beat OU......I'd say the two could very well go hand in hand. If doesn't have a big game, chances are UT loses and he could be out of the heisman race.
Perhaps his self-centered talk could get him a spot on those Budweiser commercials.......maybe he could be Leon's nephew. No doubt that kid Peterson is already awesome.......better than Clarett when he was a frosh.......Danny Ware on Georgia isn't too shabby either.
I was at a bar close to SMU last night and the OU fans were in full force. After a couple 'Boomer Sooner' chants, someone started an 'S-M-U!' chant which rattled the whole bar. The OU fans looked a little confused. I shed a tear.... and drank another beer...
UT QB problem causes 5th loss to OUOnce upon a time, DKR was in love with Bill Bradley as the UT QB and lost. Mack Brown has misplaced confidecne in Vince Young and will keep losing to OU like they did today. SMU knows all aobut QB problems. Maybe we have an answer at QB this year. The Rice game will tell all.
Sam I Am
Final score: OU 12, UT 0...First time that UT has been shut out since 1980 by the Baylor Bears, 16-0.
Everyone in the USA was in love with Super Bill Bradley. He was on the cover of SI before he even showed up at UT. He just wasn't a QB but once they realized he was a D back, he was fantastic. Young is no QB. Maybe he is a reciever? If your QB can't beat the opponent with his arm, he isn't going to take the team anywhere near a championship. UT is known for not having a QB who can pass. Applewhite and Sims were the best exceptions but it appears that Brown can't coach QB's or doesn't know what to look for when reruiting them. His stubborness to continue to play Sims when Applewhite was the obvious leader of the team shows that there is something that he just doesn't get.
If Texas loses to Texas A&M and Texas Tech, Mack Brown will be standing in the unemployment line. If Texas beats Texas A&M, he'll keep his job.
Peterson would start for the Cowboys. I laughed when he said he felt he could've gone pro right out of high school. I was wrong. He is already one of the strongest running backs I've ever seen. Sucks for Texas he can't go pro for at least two more years.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

Re:
Yep, it won't be the same when they move it to Arlington in a few years.
Get ready for Ft. Worth to start marketing/campaigning for folks to stay in hotels and eat at their restaurants when the game moves to Arlington. Dallas' visitors and convention bureau better start hustling now. Seriously.
In the 60sI remember as a kid the local top 40 radio stations sent reporters downtown to cover the mayhem. In those days there was so much alcohol that an early starting game often kicked off in front of a half empty stadium.
Whatever you think of the two teams it is a HUGE sporting event for Dallas and I always like to see the old Cotton Bowl on TV. I spent many Saturdays there as a kid and I especially liked the SMU games played during the State Fair.
Re: In the 60sKLIF-AM, the 'mighty eleven-ninety!' (1190 AM dial...a Gordon McClendon station) and KBOX-AM (station was behind Flagpole Hill near White Rock Lake) were two of the stations that would put their live mics downtown to broadcast the mayhem. SMU played Navy one year AFTER the Teasips/Sooners contest in the Cotton Bowl. A lot of folks stayed around to see some guy named Roger Staubach QB the Midshipmen to victory over the Mustangs.
that's it you are placed on 1 year probation with sanctiions for being an SMU fan imposter. SMU beat Roger Staubach and Navy in one of the 5 greatest upsets in SMU history. And you claim to be an SMU fan!!!!!!! Shame!!!!!!
I hang my head in shame.
![]() From the SMU Athletics page under "History": The 1963 season provided the SMU football program with perhaps its most memorable game when the Mustangs hosted fourth-ranked Navy and its heralded quarterback, Roger Staubach, on October 11, 1963, at the Cotton Bowl. On its way to a 4-7 season, SMU was given little chance to beat the Midshipmen. Little-known sophomore John Roderick rushed for 146 yards on 11 carries and scoredon touchdown runs of 45 and two yards for the Mustangs. The SMU defense, led by Bob Oyler, Martin Cude, Bill Harlan, Harold Magers and Doug January, sent Staubach to the bend twice with a dislocated left shoulder. Trailing 28-26 with 2:52 remaining in the game, SMU had one last chance to pull off the upset. Quarterback Danny Thomas threw to Billy Gannon, who ran to the Navy 46. On the next play, Roderick took a pitchout 23 yards to the 23. After a pass interference penalty against Navy put the ball on the one-yard line, Gannon plowed over the right tackle for the winning touchdown with 2:05 left. The SMU defense held off Staubach's valiant effort to rally his team for one last score, as the Mustangs pulled off the 32-28 upset. TX / OU ......I really enjoyed attending the OU/TX game yesterday, sitting with the Sooners right behind the Texas Short Horn's bench.
Wow those Sooners hate UT worse than SMU people do! That number 28 Adrian Peterson (225 yards!) is one great player. There was no doubt Cedric Benson was not the best running back on the field. Last year as a high school player Peterson attended the TX/OU game as a guest of the Longhorns! The Sooner Fans were chanting all sorts of anti-Longhorn cheers throughout the game, we were right behind the Longhorn bench and you could tell the players were not amused. The chants of "5 In A Row" were loud and struck a nerve! But what surprised me, is one time after the Longhorns made an interception or fumble recovery this Longhorn Coach, must have been in his late 40's or early 50's (not some grad asst.) came running over to the Sooner Student Section and was screaming, pointing at us, and doing the "Hook 'Em" sign! A Longhorn Coach actually taunting the Sooner Students right during a game. Wow, I suppose 5 spankings in a row can make you do such things! Lets make it six in a row next year and give Mack Brown another extension! ![]() http://www.FireMackBrown.com C-ya @ Milos!
