At this point the Butt in Seats won't come without a break-through in wins. If we beat TCU this week that makes a statement to the Dallas fan that we're worthy of their entertainment dollar and also it makes a competitive statement that we belong on the field with TCU in a BCS conference. My ten cents is that this is a very important game for us long term. A good outing and it will pay dividends down the road. A slaughter and we better get used to Rice, Tulsa, Tulane, UNT, La. Tech, and UTEP games.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

If CUSA-MWC conferences do merge, they will have to change the conference name. I vote "Mile High Club Conference."

If this was to happen, 20-24 seems a little large for a conference. When one team goes to a BCS bowl the split for the other league teams would probably be pennies, I would think. Maybe the TV contract makes up for it.

The MWC and CUSA upper tier teams should get together and form their own conference ala the MWC being formed out of the WAC. I think this would be a pretty solid conference:
West
Boise State, Nevada, Hawaii, Air Force, Fresno State, San Diego State
East
SMU, Houston, Tulsa, Southern Miss, East Carolina, Central Florida
That could be a VERY competitive conference that could challenge for an AQ spot especially if the Big East gets raided.
As it is there is just too much dead weight in both conferences w/ UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming, Rice, UAB, Tulane, and Marshall.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Yes, seems to me you need to jettison the dead weight and get to 16 of the best teams you can find.

Attendance (with greater season tix sales to Stallion's point) may improve modestly with us in merged, AQ conference affiliation, such as CUSA/MWC. However, real ticket sales are dependent on SMU being in a Big 12 type regional FB with schools able to travel to Big D in volume. Each step to AQ status is helpful, but our situation can only dramatically change, i.e. big attendance at Ford, when we are part of a Big12.

You don't get a white participation ribbon for trying hard or a gold badge for being Most Improved Newcomer of the Year. These decisions will be made on hard facts. The hard facts are that schools like TCU, UH, ECU, UCF, Air Force, Navy. Southern Miss, Boise, BYU have MUCH better season ticket sales (as in multiple times)and actual attendance. That is a huge advantage to them in realignment. That's the point in case you missed the Forest from the Trees.
Your points are good ones but beside the point that was being made. And you call me a name one more time on this board and we'll need a face to face discussion.
