Think Penn State and Clemson might have something to say about that.

Clemson has a legitimate argument. Penn State does not. They were essentially handed the #1 spot in a couple of polls just because people thought Paterno was going to retire and they thought he deserved a national championship.

They had a loss that year. SMU did not.
