Re: B12 Talk on Normis there a single talk show host in this market who knows anything about smu?
aside from rich phillips i can't think of anyone who knows anything. someone will say something crazy every now and then but i just sigh and move on.
Re: B12 Talk on NormPeople make fun of Chip Brown-but the fact is that if you study what subsequently is revealed then Chip Brown correctly reported the direction that negotiations were headed at the time he reported it. That's news. Just because negotiations subsequently break down doesn't make him wrong-it means the facts changed. Rarely have these expansion stories headed in a direct line except for the ACC's coup

Re: B12 Talk on NormYou do know Norm got hit on the noggin with a baseball for a HR. Oh, wait! That was Jose Canseco, but Norm called the game.

Re: B12 Talk on NormI think if Missouri leaves that SMU and TCU to the Big 12 is a possibility over UH being admitted.
Think about it: Baylor and TT get picked to the Big 12 due to timely political pull - but do you think it escaped UT and OU that they sit in recruiting wastelands. Bringing those 2 into the Big 12 was politically correct and left the 2 major recruiting hotbeds - Houston and DFW - open territory. So, if a choice is 1.) TCU and Houston or 2.TCU and SMU to save the Big 12 (believe me TCU and SMU only get in if the Big 12 is out of options) then they will go with option 2 - since it at least leaves Houston as virgin Big 12 recruiting territory. At least SMU and TCU make their kids go to class. Recruiting nightmare if UH gets into the Big 12 with their lax academic standards. BTW: BYU sees its football program as a marketing tool for the church. They will not come to the Big 12 for football. Instead, they will take the team on the road and use it to rally Mormons across the country and show what great values they have. Pony 81
Re: B12 Talk on NormWell since Texas has got commitments from approximately 90% of its offers in recent years its been a stunning success. I think some Big 12 North teams might do better with more visits in the Metroplex

Re: B12 Talk on NormNorm does say things for local effect and I'd guess he truly does buy into the civic notion that SMU to the Big 12 would be good for Dallas and Dallas needs all the help it can get. I'd put about zero stock in his comments though.
