Ah, the diehard fan
I think ponyboys’s comments reflect the severity of what is at stake.
Dropping down in conference while TCU and potentially Houston move up will have a real impact on recruiting. Fan support, already an issue, will only get worse. It would be less likely that CofC contributions will continue to flow. Long and short is this event would most likely be the final tipping point to our path to total irrelevancy. I personally would rather see more emphasis on BB.
I have been attending SMU football games since I was a 7-year old. My main Christmas gift when I was an 11-year old were BB season tickets to Moody so I could see my idol, Gene Phillips. I could have been attended any school in Texas. I chose SMU in part due to its athletics.
Like ponyboy, I am not saying it is inevitable we will drop down.
Like ponyboy, if they do, I too walk away. I doubt we are the only two.
