byu lives in this bizarro world of sports as spreading their word.
i don't think it's completely about the money.'
they are deciding if they can capture more souls (and money) in a conference or out of a conference.
i don't know why they care since they can convert you after you die anyway-really.

utah getting a pac 10 bid did send them over the edge. they couldn't let utah get the upper hand on them so they left the mwc to go indie. they are getting a lot of pressure to join the big 12 from their followers.

do they want to fight ut every day. does ut want to fight byu every day. a match made in heaven.

if i had to bet i would say byu to the big 12 but you never know with them.

Utah State is good. But I think this game tonight is a pretty good indication that BYU football is nowhere near the level that it would need to be to compete in the Big-12. BYU has ALWAYS played a soft schedule. That was even the gripe against them when the AP voted them national champs in 1984. BYU has never had to run a gauntlet anywhere close to what the Big-12 represents, even in its diminished state.

Does it serve the outreach mission of the BYU program to get trounced week in and week out in a conference like the Big 12? Are the type of players that BYU would have to successfully recruit in order to compete in the Big 12 the type of kids that would: (1) choose BYU over other Big 12 schools; and (2) fit in the BYU community? I think those are legitimate questions that BYU is probably considering.
