schollie question

Do football scholarships to SMU cover tuition or something more or less than the tuition?

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe football scholarships cover tuition as well as room and board.

Thanks. To put it another way, is there any difference between a scholarship at SMU and (generally) anywhere else? Just curious. I know a HS player who is interested in SMU and was curious. I have no reason to think otherwise but thought I'd ask.

Yes I believe there is an NCAA program that allows you to give a cost-of-living amount when kids live off campus instead of living in a dorm on campus. Usually not freshman who generally live on campus. Somebody recently had some good information about this. Because the cost-of-living is high in Dallas they are credited with more at SMU than most schools. I'm not clear about the details but that's generally how it was described. Also low income students can apply for Pell Grant subsidies from the federal government that cover other living expenses-however I remember reading there were cuts to this program proposed or passed during recent federal budget cuts

I am new to this board and appreciate the responses. If a kid is interested in SMU football is the best way to reach out to the coaches to fill out the recruiting questionnaire on the SMU website and go from there?

Either that our call the SMU Football Offices and ask for the Recruiting Coordinator Adrian Klemm

Thanks. I don't know if he is good enough but he is averaging about 2 sacks a week as a DT but his natural position would be LB. 6-0, 220 4.8 as a 16 year old junior. We will definitely try to make it to one of the SMU camps this summer and will fill out the recruiting questionnaire soon. Good to know who the head recruiter is. It is not obvious from the information on the link.

After your third post I kind of figured you were probably related to a particular recruit. Unfortunately under NCAA rules many of us who are season ticket holders or Mustang Club members are considered Representatives of the University and prohibited for direct participation in the recruiting process even on a message board but are authorized to direct you to the SMU Coaching Staff for further information-so pardon us if we don't follow up with further inquiry. However good luck during the recruiting process
