After some more consideration and thought:

It may be true that some head coaches do not get along with some others. However, I know for a fact that Gary Patterson helped the coach at BSU put in the 4-2-5 defense. They have known one another a long time. I also know for a fact that the coach at Texas A&M, Emory Bellard, helped Dave Smith when he was the head coach at OK State install the wishbone and the story is that Darrell Royal did the same for Bear Bryant at Alabama.
