That is nice with Fall Break and Tx/OU on the same weekend...probably helps a little. Good scheduling SMU! - I know we have bitched about a game being on TX/OU for many years.

We ask the conference for a bye week or away game on TX/OU every year. We also ask the conference for a bye week or away game on Thanksgiving weekend every year. Got one of the two this year.

I hope this wakes up the casual fan - I am going to say about the same as UTEP thanks to Operation Sellout.

Most casual fans do not know UCF, but almost anyone in the area knows TCU. Will be interesting to see what kind of attendance bump we can get out of our win over TCU. Two weeks to promote this game ad nauseam and remind everyone we are the best team in DFW.

Only four more season home games left: UCF (Oct 15), Tulane (Nov 5), Navy (Nov 12), and Rice (Nov26). If we can make it to the Tulane game undefeated we should be ranked and with that more tshirt fans will be interested. Would make for a large attendance bump against a usually low attendance game against Tulane, and probably a packed house against a competitive Navy team.

And the 8th is mrsmrydel's birthday so sneaking away for a game in Dallas would have been difficult, but not impossible.

If we don't have a solid crowd for UCF...

ponygrad90 wrote:I think the UCF game should be sellout, come on we are talking about a re-match with the Conference Champion at Home in Early October with an SMU team that is receiving votes in the Top25 and you guys think we won't break 20,000 fans?

Operation Sellout should work on calling every Dallas Area Alum to remind them about the Game!

I can tell you there are about 20 or so volunteers working on this. Operation Sellout is designed so that these 20 volunteers sell almost half of the tickets to each of the games (UTEP and UCF).

We are not even close on the UCF game. Don't think this win has all of a sudden opened every one else's check books. I have not heard of or seen one dollar of additional donations, and I talk to the senior leadership in the athletic department about this very regularly (several times per week). Yeah, not a lot of time has passed, but I have made all the phone calls, written all the letters, etc. that I can. My personal book is tapped, and I'm sure that's pretty true of the rest of the volunteers.

If you know people that have not been contacted about this, PLEASE HELP. This should not be just up to me and a few others. As you talk to your fellow alumni this week, make sure they know about this program. Make sure they know we will have ATTENTION on us in 2 weeks on Fox Sports that this program has rarely enjoyed at any point in the last 2 decades. HELP MAKE IT COUNT.

Send emails, make phone calls, do whatever you can.

If you're interested, PM me to help. Let's make a statement in 2 weeks with a packed crowd telling our players that we support them.

The last update I saw (last week), we had sold a couple thousand out of the 15,000 goal. We hit our 15k target for the UTEP game (which resulted in attendance of about 26,000). We have a long way to go.

This will be a historical game in football history..

At halftime Peruna VIII will be retired and Peruna IX will take over the reins as "SMU's Official Mascot."

Peruna VIII is the second longest reigning Peruna is school history.

Ok, I just sent you my donation form, sorry for the delay. Maybe you can hit people up at the luncheon :)

THANK YOU! I appreciate your contribution to this program. Combined with the billboard, you're definitely doing your part for this team.

22,500......UCF isn't a name brand here in Dallas, and doesn't bring it for Dallas fans...UCF fans won't travel here either.

I will be making my first trip out to Ford this year for the UCF game. I am an Aggie but I grew up in an SMU household so I support the Mustangs as much as possible. I know this wont help much but you can add 2 more to the total for the UCF game.
