No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpWhy does our D have so much trouble with this? I'm sure part of it was the heat and them being tired, but 23 pts in the 4th is tough to swallow.
-- see Houston games. Houston will tear us up if we don't figure this out.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpTo me we were not dropping enough into coverage. When we dropped more into coverage we did better.

Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpYes, cougar high gave us fits with the hurry-up last year. I hope we can figure out a way to handle it. cougar high is going to be tough to beat this year.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
What SMU86?...did you watch the game? You are kidding, right?.....SMU only rushed, if you could call it that, 3 and sometimes just 2 in the 4th quarter.....everyone was in a zone coverage defense, including even our NG a few times as he backed up into pass coverage.....TCU kept throwing into the gaps on the zones and TCU's QB had NO pressure. Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Upour zone is very porous. our ILBs are lousy in coverage, especially Rogers. DBs look better when we are getting pressure up front and overall have room for improvement.

Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
I hope this was sarcasm. We were dropping 9 into coverage on some plays, and it nearly cost us the game. Brought the blitz back in OT, and slowed them down just enough. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpI just wonder why we changed coverage - no pressure on QB and he was throwing all over with ease. D play the run well most of the game except for the long run. I think you are right about the LB pass coverage. I can't believe the guy wide a ss open in the end zone corner.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpJGD hurting his leg in the 2nd half could have been part of the reason we switched to only rushing 3.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpLooked like we were busy shuttling players on and off the field. Leaves limited time to set up and make adjustments.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry UpMore importantly....just think if/when we can do a hurry-up O
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
Gave up 23 points and almost 200 yards in the 4th. We played 7 D-lineman, and everyone of them looked dead at the start of the 4th quarter.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
I don't think ever - Jones doesn't work that way, maybe a tad quicker with a comeback and no time left.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
Nope. JJ never ran a hurry-up, no huddle at Hawaii... yet he still had teams leading the country, or near the top, in scoring drives under 2:00 minutes. One thing I wish he would do more of is use the 5-wide set... remember the Hawaii Bowl? 5-wide and BOOM... huge pass play that set everything in motion. Against TCU in OT... the game-winning pass was in 5-wide too... in 5-wide, if the D is blitzing, it's impossible to disguise it. And your hot receivers can get huge gains when/if teams blitz. Wear teams out w/ 5-wide and then pound Zach on them when they're tired. ![]()
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Up
We would need a much faster qb to be able to run to the sideline and get the play in time.
Re: No Huddle Offense / Hurry Upzone coverage gave their qb all day to make his throws. any qb given that much time will take it to the defense.hopefully we won't play zone.....if I can figure it out anyone can.
