Ok. Would it be correct to say there are not signature wins? Only wins.

Some observations on the game:

The talent gap is closing
SMU appeared to have as good a talent as TCU and overall more team speed
Overall the SMU receivers may be as strong as we have ever had and they can really catch the ball
I thought the SMU QB showed a lot of composure
The Qb appears to be much better on deep crossing routes than on the deep going away patterns
He missed a couple of receivers wide open going deep
Our kicking game, especially as regards kick coverage, is much improved
The defense does a good job of gang tackling and just plain tackling
The defense front seven is pretty strong
I thought more than a 3 man rush was called for in the second half
Zach Line is a throwback and if he was playing in the one platoon era he would deserve the Heisman,

Whether or not this was a signature win it was a win which was a positive learning experience for the team. proving to them they can outplay a good opponent and building confidence. The next game will be interesting to watch and see if the team plays with as much intensity and confidence.

I see signature win as one that confirms that you are at a higher level and not that you played over your head.

In 2005 you could say we played over our heads, not now.

Yes. It was no fluke. We just lined up and beat them.

JG Davis was an absolute beast.

Dutch- IMO this was a benchmark win. You set benchmarks to determine your progress. No one can dispute that we are making progress. This was the first time in many years that we beat a top 20 team. I believe JJ sets benchmarks for the team. This year that benchmark is to win the conference. Not trying to argue JMHO.

I love the staff expectations. There was very little celebrating after the game by the coaches. All business.

as it should be. we should expect to beat teams that we are on par with where we are.

When ESPN is putting your score up as an UPSET ALERT all afternoon, its a big deal. Now we're 4-1, we have more games to play, but I like where we are right now. Also, with Conference Realignment talks going on right now, it helps to kick in the door rather than whimper in the corner and beg. Beating TCU is a first step at kicking in the door. UCF is next. We need to give someone a resume which says, we're the up and coming team, TCU, UCF, Houston are yesterday's news. Speaking of Houston, they almost lost to UTEP and gave up a ton of points. That will be some good film in the coming weeks.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

This. This. This.

I'm not saying don't throw deep. I'm saying capitalize on the throws that JJ seems to make very, very well. The rainbow bomb over the defense does not appear to be one of them.

I concur redpony, the win was a "Benchmark" win and a change of direction has been made from not closing out big games such as last year's TCU game that we were leading after the half. It was a Benchmark when we put down the "single star receiver concept" and began trusting not only all four WR but now want to include several reserves in the mix. It was a Benchmark when the R&S switched from Rushing Touchdowns to delivering four Passing Touchdowns.

Now going forward we will start putting our "Signature" on our wins by closing out tight games until we reach the next Benchmark, Championships, BCS Bowl action...

The new signature for this team should be 'pancakes and pain'. The O needs to pancake the the opposing D and our D needs to create great pain for the other offensive team.
