How much red was in the stands in Amon?

Postby SmooBoy » Mon Oct 03, 2011 3:15 pm

From the pictures and video, it looked like maybe 3,000. I see the announced attendance was 35,632.

Thanks. The postgame celebration on the field (seen via someone's phone) was great.

Watch the video clip of the winning touchdown and you can really hear the Mustang fans cheering. The 1,000 or so of us that went to the game made some noise. I loved the "SMU, SMU, SMU" chants during and after the game. It really was a special day.

So you were part of the group that has the TCWho folk up in arms? Intentionally cheering S-M-U, S-M-U during their school song. Should have stayed silent. That's a reverent time.

I don't think that I shouted over their school song, but it's possible although not intentional. I do find it funny that most Mustang fans know the words to "Varsity" but the best you can hear during the Frog anthem is a soft mumble until the end when everybody yells "TCU".

We have a lot of fans who choose to wear blue (that looks like purple from a distance) or something other than red. We might need to teach our fans what to wear.

Probably 1,000 in the visitors section. Then a handful in the end zone. And a couple others scattered throughout the stadium.

The aTm game seemed to take a lot of energy out of SMU games. Lots of SMU fans at that game. But this should bring some fans back.

I did not hear anyone chanting SMU over the TCU fight song in the visitor section. Maybe a rogue fan in the stands did this, but I did not hear it, and I hung around well after the game was over to soak it in.

Also, I didn't really see many SMU fans in blue (only a few). Red was the color of choice whenever I ran into someone, but I guess the blue shirts could have been camouflaged as you point out.

I heard it was 2,000 tics including the band and the parents and THEN there were 800 left for Mustang Clubbers. Otheres scattered about, but after the game on that side looked like a lot more...at least to the players.. :-)

My gameday polo is blue and I will continue to wear it until we bring back the blue jerseys on the field.

I love the Blue jersey's as well but June thinks they are unlucky so we will not see them anytime soon. I also have a blue polo but I wanted to clash as much as possible with that ugly purpule so I was in my red.

Why would you quit wearing it then?

unfortunately June won't wear blue which I would prefer. I will wear red to most games unless it against Houston.
