Why open the door to a team that will eventually put you in your place....
exactly. there is no upside for tcu to have SMU in same conference, other than the very overrated 'traveling partner' aspect which i doubt they care about.
we will still play each other regardless (and that IS good for them despite what they might say and is certainly good for us) and that's about all out of us they want. to put us on equal footing conference-wise after they've done all the work is BAD for tcu. UH is much less threatening.
the question will be whether or not tcu has the stroke to blackball us from BE, and even that has a risk. if they say to the BE "we're not coming if you add SMU" and that requires a firm commitment from them to stick with their BE decision (which I think it would), then their chance at the Big XII (which i think is very high for them) goes out the window and guess who might (not likely, but might) be there to take that place? none of this SMU talk is good for the polywogs. their best hope is to either hope they get a Big XII invitation, likelihood strenghtened if Mizzou bails, or that the BE opts not to include SMU for its own reasons and CUSA is depleted by losing UH, ECU, UCF or whoever else.
