God bless them. These are 18, 19, 20+ year olds showing up day after day after day. Spring training, summer 7-on-7 and weights, fall 2-a-days, daily practice, etc. etc. Not to mention the added pressures of any other college student.
These guys don't want to lose. They want to win as badly as we want them to win. Probably more so. Think about that.
What can WE do to help them and to help the program? How can we quit pointing fingers and be part of the solution?
For starters, our 2004 SMU Mustangs need our unwavering support They need to know we believe in them, we respect them, and have confidence in them to win games.
Do you know any of these kids? Call them. Encourage them. Write them a note of support. Pray for them and for the team and the coaches. Make an effort to be supportive.
Be part of the solution...

what can Mustang fans do? It's pretty simple: keep attending the games, as most on this board will undoubtedly do. Yes, it's tough supporting a program that has had losing seasons in 15 or the last 16 years, but hey...that's why we have the Blvd, right? I wish I was still in Dallas and could come out for every game. Enjoy the pre-game festivities and if the Mustangs actually win a game...well, that's just an added bonus.
Oh, and if you're looking for a tax deduction...send a check to the Mustang Club. Now if you're really wealthy and want to help the program...be prepared to write a check to buyout Bennett's contract if we get blown out in every game the rest of this season. Then turn around and write an even bigger check to see if SMU can attract a proven head coach. That won't be easy task.

Certainly the players are working hard, but whatever they are doing, is not working. There is not one aspect of this team's play that is better after 7 games than it was back in game 1.

Good post, HPP. These guys are working extremely hard, and we have to remember that as much as we hate the losses, it's even harder on them. They're working for us, and they need to know we appreciate them, and that we'll be there with them through thick and thin.

HP, is right on. Alot of us are feeling sorry for ourselves. I think most people have nothing but respect and sympathy for the players, the frustration is towards the administration/trustee group who no matter what you say have lead us to failure either through inaction or wrong actions. I think Bennett sits in the middle somewhere with fans, he inherited a mess and has only had 2.5 years so far, but nights like last night are not encouraging for progress.
One thing that should be noted, is there was NO booing from the crowd last night. The fan base that is left borders on sainthood. The natives would be much more restless most other places. We'll keep going and cheering the players. Thats all we can do.
