Ashlin Davis

Talked to a buddy of mine from mesquite, and he had said that ashlin davis wanted to come to smu, but the coaches didnt want him. he played high school ball at mesquite poteet, and also went and played at tyler junior college with eckert. thought this was interesting since i saw on ESPN that he returned a kickoff return against boise 101 yards to the house. i really feel like we could have used this kid. anyone know why the coaches didnt want him?????????????

as I've posted many times SMU does not appear- based upon the information I see from the recruiting services -to be recruiting any traditional Junior College players. SMU's JC recruits have generally been full qualifiers out of high school and more common than not have transferred after their freshman year in Junior College. In other words we are simply picking up crumbs that have been left over from the previous recruiting season. The same appears to be the case this year as we are not listed by a single JC player on any recruiting service that I know of. I'll keep the board informed if that ever changes but I think that after seeing this each and every year we can conclude that SMU would only consider the unique JC player.
