PerunaPunch wrote:Because he's so insecure that he can't even give credit where credit is due. Even when June's staff repeatedly treats Patterson with nothing less than the greatest respect, he can't reconcile losing even one game out of 10 to the Mustangs. It's not like our staff is loaded with ex-NFL talent (oh wait, it is) and a former NCAA coach of the year who is generally considered an offensive genius (oh wait, we have that too), and it's not like he's facing a team who's school administration is still languishing in a culture of mediocrity.
Had Patterson lost to some nameless slouch, he still should have shown the good sportsmanship to lose with dignity and use the loss as motivation to improve next time. Losing to a good competitor, he could have used the loss to teach character. Instead he taught his team to shirk responsibility, and take the cowardly way out by blaming the loss on others.
Pathetic.
well said. Pure sorriness by Patterson.

I am absolutely struggling to figure out why he chose to go nuclear like that. Let's suspend reality and assume he's rational, and this was for a reason. Take Mike Gundy in 2007...yeah, he genuinely cares for his kids, yadda yadda, but that rant was 110% for recruiting purposes moving forward-and it worked wonderfully. Mission accomplished.
With Mr. Patterson though, I can't possibly think of anything unless this is some ploy to generate publicity and ignite rivalry with a pending conference affiliation with TCU. I can't buy that, otherwise I'm buying a lottery ticket too. So..,can anyone thing of a reasonable, rational motivation for this?
All this has served to do is tarnish his reputation, make him seem like a suffering, sniveling, whining, sore loser, continued to remind the entire world that we beat them, and give us free publicity. That is exactly what this is....making a rivalry better and giving the enemy free publicity and a boat-load of bulletin board material. Even an arrogant, bitter, SOB isn't going to give the enemy an advantage like that. What am I missing?

if JJ is "1-6" against TCU, who was coaching Hawaii when Timmy Chang walked into Fort Worth and shredded that defense ... using many of the same plays one J.J. McDermott used Saturday?

Gundy: "I'm a man! I'm 40!" Patterson: "The refs are bad! I'm 4!"
