The Future: Conference AlignmentMizzu is going to the SEC, this leaves the big 12 at 8. They absorb most of the current big east. USF and TCU get left out. USF gets picked up by CUSA and TCU goes back to the MTN West. The CUSA MTN West merger happens and the winner gets to go to a BCS bowl game, winning team's conf take all.
I see this as the best situation for us. It is nice being mentioned for Big East, but I think that conf is dead, especially if Mizzu goes to the SEC. This would be a great situation. We get to keep some regional rivalries, have inclusion into the BCS, and with BCS money on the line, the championship game will be a blast to watch to see who goes to the bowl. And I think the current AQ schools are fine with it. One BCS spot opens up with the death of the Big East and they can create another one to make SEC happy since they said 2 schools should be allowed to go to BCS bowl from one conference.
Re: The Future: Conference Alignmentgood post but SEC wants 3 schools
Re: The Future: Conference AlignmentThe Big 12 will not return to 12. Texas and Oklahoma do not desire a championship game.
Far East Conference
Re: The Future: Conference AlignmentMaybe they want none. Mizzou stays in the Big 12, Big East back fills, and the world continues as it is. No Armageddon, same landscape, etc. Does the SEC really want to risk upheaval like that over a Midwestern school that has never been to a final four and hasn't won a conference championship in 41 years? They snagged Texas A&M, but WVU or Mizzou? I'm just not sure it happens.
Re: The Future: Conference AlignmentThey can have three. They can have the current big east spot and then the Cotton bowl becomes the next bcs bowl there are two extra spots. This is why other AQ teams will vote for it. Sunbelt and Mac will vote no, but I think they only need 2/3's vote to pass and the lawyers can have at it.
Re: The Future: Conference AlignmentI don't think the Big xii want to expand beyond 12
Re: The Future: Conference AlignmentOU wants stability. They will go to 12-14 to get stability if need be. They will pick up more teams out east so they can have two divisions. Big 12 north likes this because they get to play in Texas, Big 12 South gets stability plus bigger TV market by taking so many schools out East. Everybody wins. This is so easy to see from my porch after a few margaritas.

3 margaritas make me an expert at anything. ![]() Who knows what will happen. If the Big East is viable and you get offered, you take it no questions asked! I just don't see them surviving if Mizzu leaves and the big 12 raids the big east. Again, who knows......I'm just ready for it to end, or get postponed till the summer when we don't have anything to talk about.
