Robert Lewis
After seeing some highlight clips of this guy, I absolutely can not wait to see him playing for SMU. Check out his clips - he is an electric runner who always seems to have guys chasing him downfield.
This weekend is a chance for him to get guys chasing him to SMU. He was SMU's first commitment, bringing a great player and a great school together. Hopefully he can convince Gabe Marks or Jordan Payton (or do we dare dream of Gabe Marks AND Jordan Payton?) to join him at SMU. Hopefully those others realize the same thing Lewis did, that SMU is a great place to be, that the coaches are guys you want to play for and this is a team where players - especially receivers - have a chance to do some pretty impressive things.

Be careful. Don't ever imply a recruit isn't coming to campus or the Boogieman might get you!
anything can happen between now and then - hopefully more good than bad
Re: Robert Lewis
There's no reason to believe Lewis won't stick. The fact that he was offered so early means he must be one hell of an impressive player, and the fact that he committed so early suggests he realizes what a great opportunity he has at SMU. Can't wait to see him on the Hilltop!

Re: Robert Lewis
There is no reason EXCEPT for those that have read 6 or so recent reports that suggest he may not stick. Hopefully, his visit cemented his commitment but he admits he's still looking around at taking all 5 allowed NCAA visits so it should be interesting. Mrydel and his WDNWHA Committee will pronounce final judment and I don't believe the Grand Wizard has spoken yet. I think he hopes one of his buddies will commit and he'll stick if one of them commits. The most positive factor is he has a great understanding that his skills can best be used in this offense.

Re: Robert Lewis
Here's an idea. Maybe you should commit to a school AFTER you have visited it so you at least know what the heck is going on there.
It would be hard to know the number of kids every year who commit to a school before ever seeing it in person. I understand that $$ may play a role in order for some to travel. Fine.
Everybody is such a damn hurry to commit because of peer pressure or whatever else that the official visits mean zilch. That's a shame too because if you come from a poor family and don't have the $$ to travel, the official visit gives you that chance.
But if I'm right on this, those aren't official visits aren't until December and January. And those months are usually reserved for the recruits round out a class instead of define it.

Re: Robert Lewis
I recently read that-I believe the SEC-is sponsoring a complete overhaul in the rules on official visits. Those rules aren't serving the student-althletes any more since 85% of the top recruits commit before their official visit. Now recruits are expected to fork over a heckva lot of money in the summer to visit schools on their own dime. I think its an area that's causing some infractions too allowing the street agents to become involved. In the name of fairness to the athletes a radical change is overdue.

sounds like all he's given us is a non-committal commitment. hope he sticks, though.
