A 37-cent solution

Postby HPPony » Sun Oct 17, 2004 11:21 pm

Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something. Here's something everyone can do to show our players we believe in them and that we are there for them through thick and thin.

Fan mail.

Take the five minutes you would normally write a message for Ponyfans.com and write one of the SMU players instead. Nothing fancy, just a sentence or two to say "great hit" or "nice interception" or "great game". Outside of his teammates and coaches, do you think anyone besides Alvin Nnabuife's mama congratulated him on his interception and defensive touchdown at the Boise State game, much less took the time to write him a fan letter?

It'll cost you to do this. A whopping 37-cents for postage. I'd pay $100 to see the face of the first player to get fan mail.

For lack of a better address, here's the football office p.o. box.

Damn good idea - I like it.
There are a lot of guys who could use a note of encouragement.

Think we should post a reminder that the letter should be the only thing contained within the envelope? :?

Do you think you would need to REMIND people of that? I sure have not seen anything I would pay for on the field this year. At least not of my own FREEWILL.

Notes complimenting hits / plays / catches / runs?? I have already sent a couple of notes, I think you have a great idea.....I complimented #88 for the way his shirt was tucked in...#27 got a nice message from me for the passionate manner in which he jogged off the field after the game...#91 was highlighted in a card for the way he stood on the sideline, never sat down or took a knee, very impressive....#12, I think, had a really dirty uniform, a real player....great idea, I'm already on it. Long Live Rufus Shaw.
