Don't worry. At a 5:40 mile, they won't make any track team from jr high on.
I hope Tubbs does want to impress me and all the rest of SMU's fans. Of course this is to get them in shape. I
If this is nown considered "hard nosed or tough" it scares me to think how little we had been doing. Hanging 15 lbs on Simpson will definitely help him. Has Rack gotten bigger too?

I hope so--I always thought he could be a player, especially on defense, if he could just hang some meat on that barren frame of his.

our lack of conditioning was pretty obvious last year and it showed with the lazy defense we played at times. These guys had better be in shape if they are going to be asked to play more man defense. I'm assuming the soft schedule is so we can chalk up some wins and get a lot of different guys on the floor before conference play starts. We've got several new guys who are going to have to contribute for this team to play in the post season.

CP- Maybe you saw a lot more games than I did. I really didn't see that conditioning was that poor. What I saw was a bunch of players quit. This year will tell us if it was that they didn't just flat didn't like Dement or whether they are quitters when things go wrong. They seemed to be in good shape and ready to play early last year and pulled off some very good wins and some very good showings. Then they lost a couple they shouldn't have and when they got out of the race for a tourney, they just quit. We saw no effort again until Dement was fired but that is kind of like spoiled kids too. I hope they have grown up and realize that they have to play every game like they played against the better teams last year and that playing less than all out is a worse reflection on themselves than the coach. If any players think they have a chance at playing at the next level, they need to show some heart this year because the effort shown last year will not get them looks from anyone in Europe or the NBA. Failure to go all out is the biggest sin in sports.

Rack is bigger (10 or 15 pounds), but more than that, he looks a lot stronger. Can't hurt. The team looked a little soft last year, but from what I saw at Midnight Madness, they look to be in much better shape.
