Switzer coming to SMU?

Barry Switzer???
Are you the same guys who bemoaned the firing of Landry for the 'unknown' Jimmy Johnson? Switzer & his XX & OO are old school. You think there are recruiting problems, now, try recruiting a passing QB if Switzer is the coach (anybody remember Troy Akins couldn't stand it @ OU, but did okay for himself once he left).

HS players want wide-open offenses-- why do you think we signed -0- QB's last year and have another goose-egg for QB commitments thus far in 2004?

Switzer is not the answer to any SMU FB question

It wasn't that Troy couldn't stand OU it was that he broke his leg early in the season and then transferred when JAmeil Halloway become the stud at QB.

You're nuts. Switzer could recruit hawaiians to the university of anchorage. With the talent he could bring in, he could run only formations from SMU's 1935 playbook and end up with a better record that what we'll have this year.

BTW, this "wide open" offense is really kicking @ss for us this year.

I don't know if some of you guys know what you're talking about...

Two years ago, I sat two rows from Barry Switzer on a Southwest Airlines flight out of New Orleans to Dallas. He was so old and decrepit he could barely walk and was ushered onto the plane by a couple of attendants and his companion during "pre-board". Frankly, I felt very sorry for him.

I think Switzer's days of coaching are over. REALLY.

Now, maybe some of you have some insight into what I saw that day...but this seemed more than just a "temporary illness." He looked very frail and feeble and was out of it.

If Barry Switzer had been the coach when Vince Young and Reggie McNeal were seniors, we would have at least one of them in our backfield. Similarly, somone like Moat would probably be our BACKUP running back (Peterson starting).

If we gave Barry five years, my guess is we would be in the Big 12 by the end of his reign.

No Moats would not have been at SMU because if you read the article on Saturday it said that Moats had not qualified until late in the recruiting season and SMU did not offer because he did not predict to be a qualifier on signing date. I'm sure that Reggie McNeil and Vince Young have dreamed of becoming the next great wishbone QB for Barry Switzer all of their life. There is a saying in the law-that if you don't know what you are talking about you should shut up rather than opening your mouth to display your ignorance for all to see.

I think you should begin to take your own advice. You owe this board and the team an apology for your bashing of their commitment. In fact, with all your SMU bashing, I sincerely doubt that you have ever been to a game.

Stallion, it has become evident that you are to close to the program to truly offer any insight. All we ever hear from you is that Bennett and Copeland are wonderful, while the players sucks. That has gotten really old. That is the line of an insider that has lost touch with the fans.

Which is it? Is Stallion too close to the program, or has he never been to a game?

I don't always agree with what he says, to be sure, but to suggest he's never been to a game is insane. We should all have his attendance record.

What happened to the suggestion someone made to shelve all the name-calling and finger-pointing and get back to talking about the Ponies and their game with Fresno?

Which is it, man? If he is close to the program, explain your flawed logic that leads you to doubt he has ever been to a game.

Also, please explain the flawed logic that supports your position this team does not suck after witnessing the lopsided beatings it has taken over the last two years. Or maybe you are a conspiracy theorist--has the Ticket secretly been kidnapping our good players on gameday? After all, it is clear that you listen constantly, which means you would no more about the Ticket than I, who does not listen at all.

Just because you have a poor attendance record doesn't mean that you have to malign the rest of us that actually go to the games. I know YOU listen to them on the Ticket, but some of us find it important to go down to Ford and support the players.

I have not seen many of the program insiders at games recently. I guess it is difficult to hype up "the great Bennett" when you actually have to watch the games. Clearly, there is a gap between Stallion's claim about him and his performance.

Is it schzophrenic to argue with your alter ego? I mean we can all get a bunch of free yahoo addresses and call ourselves all kinds of names and take up band width and waste my time.

I haven't missed a home game since 1965, led the movement to hire Charlie Waters instead of Bennett, and have been a pain in the [deleted] to Jim Copeland since the day I started posting about 6 years ago. That's strike 3 Pal!. Yeah I'm really an administration suck-up that's why they threaten to hang me in effigy before the start of the football season about 3 years ago because I had the audacity to suggest that SMU had simply rearranged the chairs on the Titanic with the hiring of Bennett.
