SMU's Orsini wishes TCU well; says SMU's BCS options "are al

I kinda see her point.
I think we'll need more than one quality win to get spring into the Top 25.
Fortunately, by the end of the month we ought to know whether or not we have a contender. 3 tough games coming up.

What sort of man Copeland was does not change that he was a horrible athletic director.

Also, look around at the athletic facilities on our campus. Copeland spearheaded Ford, Crum, Soccer and tons of other on-campus facility improvements.  Orsini .... we're still waiting for the IPF :?

1. Crum was built under Orsini as a condition for hiring Doherty. Copeland did not build Crum
2. SMU's soccer facilities are nothing more than metal bleachers.
3. Ford Stadium was proposed by Turner, who also did the vast majority of fundraising. I do not care for Turner, and even I acknowledge his role in this. Gerald Ford has confirmed this himself.
4. The funds for the indoor practice facility are in place, it is simply a matter of Turner providing a place on which to build it.

Don't forget the renovations to Moody which will be AWESOME when finished.

We're lucky to have Steve Orsini here. It's certainly not his fault we're not in an AQ conference

You have to give Copeland credit for Ford, practice field, LEC, etc.

Remember too that Copeland was hamstrung by the same admissions issues, financial issues and lack of institutional support that plagued all of June's predecessors. You can also see a pattern of SMU trying to do athletics on the cheap. I give credit to Copeland for starting to turn the ship around, although it has taken - and still is taking - MUCH longer than anyone expected.

Moody renovations should have been completed ages ago. That project has been on the drawing board for as long as I can remember.

In what way did Copeland change SMU? Every one of his hires was an abject disaster. The only successful programs during his tenure were those that had been so before his coming.

Part of the job of an athletic director is to work to create friendly admission policies. Orsini did this, Copeland did not. Both worked under the same president.

That SMU tried to spend little is a reflection of the laziness to which Copeland approached SMU athletics. If an athletic directors is unable to properly fund raise, then he should be fired.

Copeland's goal was for SMU to go to a bowl game once every five or six years. That is how little he thought of SMU. He was an athletic director that did not believe in the program, and whose goal was never to make SMU anything other than a below-average program. He dared to strive for mediocrity, and even that was beyond his grasp.

ECM- I would think that it is the responsibility of both the Ceo of the university and the AD to see that we are in a conference that best represents the university and its' capabilities.
Hence, it is the responsibility of SO to get us into an AQ conference.

I may dislike Copeland, but even I would not dare speak of lynching, even if it were in jest.

GO PONIES!!!

There's not one AD we could have hired back in 06 or whenever SO was hired that would've gotten us a Big 12 invite today. Not one. The fact that our name has even been out there in so many different media outlets is a tribute to the progress that has been made under Orsini. We're not going to get a Big 12 or SEC invite anytime soon, but I firmly believe Orsini will have this program in relatively good shape when the dust settles (until the next realignment merry-go-round)

Can anyone argue that our athletic department as a whole isn't light years ahead of where it was when SO was hired!

It is nothing more than a clear demonstration that SMU fans have soon forgotten the misery of their past. And that redpony is a troll.
