EJ responds RE: SMU in talks with SECModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower EJ responds RE: SMU in talks with SECI just got a couple tweeds back from EJ regarding his earlier tweet about SMU and the SEC. Here is what I got:
Me: "Don't tease me." EJ: "LOL. Multiple sources from SEC confirms discussions." Me: "Wow. How reliable is this source?" EJ: "Reliable. We will see. I was shocked when I found out." Me: "Will PonyPride and Armen be publishing a story on this?" EJ: "Once we gather more information yes we will have a story. We want to report the most reliable info." Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterOtter's right about the kid being a student, but he's got a legitimate gig working with a respected source and did brake a small story earlier this week, sooooooo......
We'll see. Frankly, I seriously doubt the SEC needs to plant a story about another school being looked at in order to get another school to make up its mind, so I flat out don't believe that's the angle. It may be that kid has a decent source who heard something that may be true or not. No telling at this point.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitter
Mizzou is about an incapable of making a decision as congress though.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitter
This would make sense except that the rumor the past few days is that the SEC can't make up its mind on Mizzou. Last edited by goldenstang on Fri Oct 07, 2011 11:04 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterI'm sure the SEC has a private plane we should be tracking right now.
Re: EJ responds RE: SMU in talks with SECinteresting.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitter
Only if you buy me breakfast afterward.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterWhy is everyone saying that they can't believe this kid could break this story? I thought PonyPride broke the story the other day?
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitter
no laughing matter. If a very specific and credible proposal has not been made by SMU to the SEC, I would be very disappointed in SMU. How could we not? If the SEC has not considered it seriously, i would be surprised. This has more to do with the fifth largest market in the country and the best recruiting ground bar none than SMU itself, but SMU is credible enough to pull it off. Any less than an all out effort by SMU is unforgivable.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitter[quote="Nacho"]this story has been around since we demolished tcu in ot. was no one paying attention?
Thank you. Thought I was just dreaming, that I had been hearing about this all week long.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterI have posted for years that there would be enormous advantages to the SEC to have two schools from Texas. I am not sold that these talks are serious, but the SEC would benefit enormously by having Dallas corporate sponsorships and the Dallas media involved with their conference. A&M brings a lot of Texas media attention to the SEC, but having a metroplex school bringing in the Alabamas and Floridas of the world to play in Dallas would put them over the top considering the size of this huge media market.
Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterAnd I would hope that the SEC would see that in the long run SMU is going to become a much more consistent and attractive program than TCU will ever be in the Big 12.
SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterWhat makes me doubt the report is the "Serious talks" part. They say, "are you interested?", we say, " Hell yes". End of discussion.

Re: SMU In Serious Talks With SEC via SMU Rivals twitterIf arky can play 2 games a year in that dump in LR we can play 2 a year at Doaks place
EJ responds RE: SMU in talks with SECIf he has multiple reliable sources, he should run with it. Maybe he's waiting on an SMU confirmation, but that seems unnecessary.
My gut says these sources aren't so reliable. #NewLobCity
