The long term benefit of this may be sticking a bug in the ear of ESPN:

A: Maybe this SMU school does have support (even if this is a a paid PR deal for the most part)

B: Along those same lines, if we ever have an intriguing match up, maybe Gameday comes out because of the perceived suport.

C: If they are consulted in the conference shuffle, the perceived support might give us an edge.
