Posted this on another thread. Apparently there has been talk of picking them up in the Big 12. I'm sure there are fine folks who go there- heck I even actually know one person who went there and he's a good guy- but seriously.
TV market is 33rd. If they get the same percentage viewship that SMU does we trump them by a mile in folks watching.
Attendance for 3 home games this year: 23,282 24,991 28,431
And that's a lot better than SMU?
Academic ranking #143
Soooooooooooo.... why are they considered a better candidate than SMU?
because the Big XII is not in the Ohio market...those who keep talking about SMU and the Dallas market forget that the Big XII already has that market and SMU is not going to significantly enhance their numbers in Texas
Cinci isn't going to deliver the market up here. It is so flooded with Uk and SEC and Ohio State. Even at thier best UC won't deliver much tv wise. For a school with as big a student body as UC they really do draw poorly. Plus, they can't really add to thier stadium, so they are pretty stuck. Basketball hasn't been much of a draw since Huggins left either.
it's not about Cincy delivering the market; it's about Big XII games on TV in Cincy and Cleveland. Texas and OU will be the ones delivering the market...as an option to watch rather than Big 10 or MAC football

Well...if that's the case then we need to make that arugment with the SEC, Big East, Big 10 and Pac 12.
Iowa State needs a travel partner. Adding inroads into the Ohio market would be great for the Big XII for recruiting. Cincinnati is in the rust belt and there are a ton big uglies in Ohio.
