Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:Is a transferring student athlete the same as a recruit? He has to make the first contact with a new coaching staff after he gets permission from his existing coaching staff to transfer. Besides, it's not like it is a secret...his name and his visit to SMU are all over the Internet.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:yeah, we've seen the same from every other high-profile transfer across the country.

You want to give me one example of a Coach commenting on a recruitable athlete-transfer or not. This is first grade NCAA rules interpretation and he said it on a public forum. Its an NCAA violation and no one seems to be awake at SMU "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:Why would anything be a rules violation...Hansen just asked him and JJ got caught off guard and just answered that yes he visited the campus....nothing more, nothing less, just like any other potential student visiting a school on an unofficial basis. He didn't say he was recruiting him or even that he wanted him to play for him.
Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:I thought recruiting a transfering athlete was a violation. The transferee has to contact the school he wants to transfer to first. Right?

Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:Well Stallion, now is your chance to bring forth an Action.
Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:30He's already released right??
Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:Once you get a release which he has then he's free game-you just can't comment on it or on the quality of a particular recruit.

yes
Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:
okay, still looking...... but, what the heck is the rationale in not allowing a coach to comment on a recruit? I don't get it. also, is the rule the same for high school recruits vs. transfers? released transfer vs. not released?
Re: Coach Jones On WFAA With Dale Hansen Sunday Night at 10:Are you sure he's transfering to SMU? I haven't seen any threads

aha...okay, maybe this is one. Petrino info on Mallett's visit to Arkansas. I don't have a scout sub, so don't have the entire story, but this lead sounds like Petrino discusses the visit. http://arkansas.scout.com/a.z?s=10&p=2&c=718903&ssf=1&RequestedURL=http%3a%2f%2farkansas.scout.com%2f2%2f718903.html
