Re: Houston, SMU to join Big East if Louisville leaves
I've seen detailed reports-which could be internet garbage- listing the alleged votes for various SEC candidates. Right now none of those schools apparently has the votes which may require compromise. The in-state SEC schools may have veto power over in-state candidates so a compromise involving Misery orWest Virginia could happen. They are going to go 14 sooner or later-but they very well may be deadlock now. SMU, of course is the wise, thoughtful compromise.

So hopefully the Big East invites us soon, we win out or come really close, win CUSA and the deadlocked SEC decides to invite us at the end of the season. done and done!

How are we doing money-wise? By the way, I got an email from smu giving who said my notation "friends of marketing" was cut off. I told them where to direct the money but we might want to make sure everyone's donations got to the right place................
Just send da' money!
Dunno' how it's doing, but I paid more for the track than I wanted to, but did it because it was (a) perfect, and (b) Treadway worked so hard to get it a tax deductible donation, so I figured spending more would be okay.
BUT -
It's like loaning money. You don't lend a friend money if you actually need it back.... kind of different, of course, I decided quality was king. And if I lost money on this, who cares? As long as I put something out that I am proud of, that's the most important thing!
Or in this case, something that we all can be excited about!

Re: **Thad Video - In Progress**
I am waiting on a reply from SMU on the official total. We have really got going on my tally since people got a chance to view the video. Still a long way to go - we are at about $3500. We need to get more than 5K to help Thad recoup his costs and of course pay for the quality of the work.
This video will be more like a vision statement of our future than a commercial to sell tickets, though that will hopefully be a byproduct. Thad really nailed Orsini's vision of SMU being Dallas' college team.

Snap! I thought we were up to $7K or so originally (in terms of people saying "I'm in for X" before the link for donations actually got set up.)

Damnit, every school we would actually want to be with takes off for another conference, Louisville is next.
We are looking at joining a conference with a school in Idaho, one in southern Florida, and one in Conneticut? Why do we even care? Has nobody picked up on the fact that no other conference wants to be in buisness with schools like Rutgers and UConn? Seriously. We despearately need to take a long term look at who we want to be associated with and go from there rather than see BCS membership as the only worthwhile goal.

Yep...we can stay where we are and associate with Memphis, UAB, ECU, Tulane, Rice, etc.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Now that I think about it, the extra $13,000,000 is not worth us making a move
