So, do the 1-3 Poines have a chance?

Postby Charleston Pony » Sun Oct 24, 2004 11:53 am

against the 0-3 Fresno State Bulldogs this week? Amazing to see Fresno winless in conference play after all the hype coming into this season. For whatever reason, SMU has historically played pretty well in Fresno. I expect to see us about 16 pt underdogs, but will this be another blowout or will this team show some life after a week off?

I know I will be criticized on this board, but I predict an SMU victory. This is a rebuilding year for Fresno (yes, finally the hype has caught up with Hill's excellence), and I see SMU winning easily 14-3.

Hey look...you don't have to talk about our defense like that. Everybody has their struggles but our defense has gotten out there and worked their butts off in every game. I continue to have faith in our team because I see them fight every week. The man was simply making a prediction on the score...leave it be!

I'm wondering if we'll be able to see the game on Gameplan. If so, get ready for the crappy production quality (i.e. poor lighting) that we usually get when there's a game televised from Fresno. Makes the broadcast look like those FoxSW broadcasts of NW St. vs. Nicholls St.

You tell 'em, SMULady. I believe in the Ponies and their coaches. It will take more work, but they will get better. And better. And better. And Really Fat Guy, who cares what others think or say? If you believe, you believe. Stay that way! Never waver!

You're wrong - his patience and teaching ability will be rewarded with wins. Don't bail on the man. He's a good coach, and he'll prove it as the players mature.

Dont even try to get people on Bennett's side anymore. Half the people here ,if not more, want him gone.

I still believe in him and will until next season. If we arent winning by next season, I agree we need to get him out of here.

How many wins does he have to have next season? Two, three or a winning season?

Hell yes we have a chance. If we play like we did against San Jose, we have a terrific chance. If we play like we did against TCU, we have no chance.

I vote for the version that spanked San Jose.

Fresno is vulnerable. But they will be at home (it should be their homecoming) so they will probably be up for the game. We'll need our A game. If we can get on the scoreboard first and get a couple of good stops early by our defense, Fresno will probably deflate like a blown tire. Hill's teams have a history of mailing it in after they are out of the running for a championship. But if we get stopped early and allow a quick early score, it won't be pretty.
