In which case hello 12-0 and running roughshod over CUSA and bcs game(s) for a couple years. I say we become the Texas of CUSA and tilt all the revenue from tv disproportionately in our favor

It could come down to SMU or UH-for now-then the next week they could have to add another because the Big 12, SEC and ACC aren't done-maybe they will even have to add 2- and that would be SMU or possibly ECU. I'll agree SMU is looking for one of the last seats at the table but that shouldn't be surprising.

They will stop at 12. Our only hope is that they get raided again. At which point the conference will not be AQ.

They won't take Houston w/o SMU.

Attendance will plummet and recruiting will get exponentially more difficult. You would then have 6 TX schools in AQ conferences. We would be lumped in with UNT, Rice, UTSA, UTEP in non AQ Texas schools.

If I had to guess I'd say its 60%/40% that they take SMU over Houston because in this unique situation the Big East private BB schools are going to have a voice. Now if it was any other BCS conference I'd think Houston would be prohibitive favorite over SMU

Pete Thamel
Was just told by a Big East official that "nothing will happen this week" in regards to expansion/UCF.

If the Big East gets its way -- and if it can't land Boise State, something the league is still trying to do -- Rutgers would be in the same division as Connecticut, Central Florida, South Florida, Temple and Navy in a tentative rough draft of the reconfigured 12-team football league that came out of today's conference call, a leading college official said.

West Virginia, Air Force, SMU, Houston, Louisville and Cincinnati would comprise the other division under that scenario.

The official requested anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss details of the conference call of the football-only schools this morning.

Boise State remains a target of the league for the same reason TCU originally was: The Broncos will help the Big East when it is evaluated for the next round for receiving an automatic bid to the BCS starting in 2014.

Though Big East presidents are hesitant to add Boise State at this point, the league's athletic directors are pushing for it because of what it means for football, the official said.

The first draft of the future Big East could blow up if Louisville is grabbed by the Big 12 or if Navy -- still fence-sitting about the conference -- decides not to join for football only.
If Navy isn't part of the expansion, Villanova could be the replacement.

If Boise State is added, West Virginia would shift from the Western division to the one with Rutgers, replacing either Navy or Temple.

I don't understand what the BE is waiting for. Can the current schools not agree because they want out?

The way I read it, if Boise is in then Navy or Temple is out (Temple). WV would move to the "East" division knocking one of those the eastern teams out. We would still be in to help make up the western division.

If it shook out that way the western division would be the tough side. Some good teams over there (Boise, WV, UH,; Louisville and Cincinnati have been good in the not so distant past).

If Boise is in either Navy or Temple are out. SMU is in either way. We want Boise now. It adds credibility to the league.

Everyone is waiting on Missouri to get an invite from the sec. The big east would likely lose Louisville and that may drastically change their plans.
