that would be like engineering a hostile take-over of the buggy whip business.

Easier to stay BCS than become BCS. Take any BCS conference offer to make it easier to upgrade later

Last sentence of the article implies Navy or Temple would be out if Boise joins.

If Boise State is added, West Virginia would shift from the Western division to the one with Rutgers, replacing either Navy or Temple.

The odds are very, very slim. But it doesnt hurt to try to sell the program and everything that could benefit the SEC as hard as possible. You never know. I said that the Big 12 would never invite TCU but it happened. I think we are a far more attractive school than TCU and that in the long run we will surpass them in sports and stay ahead of them indefinitely. So why not at least give it a shot with the SEC? Nothing to lose. John Neely Bryan started with a little cabin in the flood zone and the sales people took it from there. Look at Dallas today. Its all in how you sell it.

I don't think so-they are talking Divisions. Navy gets in period if they want it. Big East has already essentially offered Navy months ago

Here's a question. Let's say the SEC and the BE come a calling. Assumption is the BE will maintain stability and its BCS status for the foreseeable future (i.e. 10-15 years). Where would you rather be?

SEC: Great football, tough to compete, big TV money, easier travel

BE: Average football at best, great BB, bit TV markets and $$$ potential, tough travel, can compete right away with the best in the conference

I'd argue the BE is the better fit simply because we could dominate that conference or be in the hunt every year for the conference championship. In the SEC we could compete every, what 10 years? Even the perennial powers over there go through 3-5 year swings. BB would be helped out tremendously and would probably give us an advantage over most the B12/SEC schools in recruiting talent.

Just thoughts. All a pipe dream. Call me when the SEC actually wants us.

SEC because you a BCS member for life. Big East might be for 2 years. This is easy

I get that, the assumption was the BE was going to be stable and maintain their BCS status long term. Obviously if the SEC asked we would jump, hell we would pay to go. It's a no brainier under current conditions to go SEC over BE.

We are not even in the list of the top 25 teams the SEC would consider...

Wrong answer.

Why? Money?

I get SEC is a better conference, closer, fans would travel, etc.

I am thinking from a competitive stand point. From where we stand today. I want to win. If every decision we make simply comes down to making the university money over winning games and competing for a national championship I'm out. I don't care how much money the school makes or how filled up the stadium is going to be on Saturday. Those are all nice effects of winning.
