Wed nite, the ladies have a chance to put our 1st win v. UT in a long time. It's not often UT will show up on campus to play us in any team sport, so it would be great to fill Westcott with Red-n-Blue.
And it wouldn't hurt for the band to take a few minutes (from their studies) tomorrow nite to "PLAY DAT SONG"!

Lol to UT for doing all they can to win, yet they always seem to come up short.
BTW, the MBand is in rehearsal from 6:30-8:30, so I dont think our times will line up.
RANT ALERT: Besides, we've tried that in the past, and there are NO opportunities for the band to play at soccer games. They said we couldnt play while the 'ball is in play.' Then, during some sort of timeout or something, we started playing, but they stopped us, saying that by 'ball being in play' they actually meant 'anytime between the beginning and ending of the game'. Then, we were just shouting cheers like "SMU, SMU" with a bass drum hitting for a pulse. The CSC Event staff people informed us that 'no noisemakers are allowed within the stadium'. He also yelled at us when we were just banging our feet on the bleachers to make noise, saying this was 'artificial noise'. Basically, we ended up sitting there for the rest of the game, and played some stuff at the very end, as the players are walking off the field. I was so pissed at all this. Soccer is one of the most (if not THE most) celebrated sports worldwide with fans causing riots, entire stadiums singing songs and cheers, etc. Yet, here in the USA, the NCAA has decided that it should be more similar to watching a game of chess. Even the fans at our games are starting to fall into this trap. I've been to some games this year, and at one, my friend and i started hootin and hollerin and kicking the bleachers trying to get some noise going. People literally said 'sit down, its a soccer game, not a football game'. I was like 'EXACTLY, I WANNA SEE BLOOD!' Our soccer teams are awesome, yet NO one knows how to show any spirit for them. I joined SMUlligans (get it, like a contraction of SMU and hooligans with odd spelling) the first day they introduced it, hoping I would finally be in a group of fans that would paint their bodies, make up cheers, flip and burn cars after big wins. But no, even SMU's own official HOOLIGAN establishment was the same group of golf-clap fans I see at every game. Several of these students were some of the ones telling me to sit down and be quiet at the game earlier this year. I feel like i've really tried to insight some sort of spirit at the soccer games, but it seems most others just want to watch in peace. What more can I do?

..unbelieveable, but knowing freakin' SMU, probably sadly true......I'm sure the guy "stopping you" had some sort of "badge"?....sometimes I wonder why we just don't shut this whole thing down, seriously!!

I went to a Caps game after they moved into downtown DC and yelled some tart thought to an opposing goon and the brie and chablis crowd at that game looked at me like perhaps I had dropped a turd in their wine cooler. At DC United games they have these fans from Central America who bring their bongo drums and chant and sing the whole game. Soccer is a passionate sport, it sounds like someone needs to talk to Hyndemann and see if he will take the leash off the rent a cops.

Yeah, I remember that. The band couldn't play while the clock was running...and in soccer the clock never stops. Wasn't there also a game where they told us we couldn't bring in our instruments because they were artificial noisemakers?

Keep coming to the games, MS, and make noise. Who cares what the fans around you say? I'm at every home game for both teams, and it's weird how polite our fans are. It kills me when Vanderbilt (VANDERBILT?) or Southwest Missouri State or someone comes in with a couple dozen fans and makes more noise than ours.
You know UT is going to have some fans there tonight, and they'll be decked out in that puke orange they use for their uniforms. I'll be there tonight, and I'll be making noise - hope you're there, too. Bring friends. If someone tells you to sit down and be quiet, invite them to stand up and BE LOUD.
Go PONIES!

The Ponies played their ***-es off tonight. They went to 2 OTs before tying a Texas team that recently beat the #6 team in the country (Kansas). Kudos to you, Ponies - played one hell of a game!
Now go crush Nevada and Boise this weekend.

Understood, Sally. Next time, how about 'practicing' out in the parking lot
behind the field. What are they gonna do? Make you all sit in your cars???
Hmmm, maybe we should all sit in our cars during the matches-- at least we could honk our 'noisemakers' after a goal..............
Congratulations, LadyPonies!

When the men were in the NCAA tournament a few years ago and played the first few rounds at home, a bunch of people actually did sit out on Airline behind Westcott to watch because NCAA set the ticket prices higher (and no free student tickets). Then for the second game the put up the temporary fence so you couldn't see through.
