Dutch and I actually purchased and donated tickets during the basketball tournament last season.

yes, we did. and by donating $x.xx for donation tickets for someone else, we were able to get some nice upgraded seats. let's just say we could do our best Doh "stomp" impression.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Operation Sell Out

Dutch just very generously donated 2 row 1 tix in 105 for the UCF game. If you're willing to make a $250 donation, they're yours.

For $1,000, I'll give you 2 of mine in the club for Rice.

Remember, this is a tax deductible charitable contribution.

PM me.

Why doesn't the school just give the rest away at the last minute to fill the seats? Didn't Ron Meyer give free tickets to the poor people to increase awareness?

I'm not sure they won't do that; however, those would not count towards official attendance which is extremely important.

For a ticket to count towards NCAA official attendance records, it must be sold for at least $10; hence, the pricing strategy on bulk ticket purchases such as this one.

Thank you to all of you that contributed to this effort. I know we fell significantly short of hitting our goal on the UCF game when it seems it would have mattered most. Hopefully, we will see our average attendance continue to improve this season, but this will largely depend on the factors addressed on a dozen other threads and don't necessarily need to be rehashed here.

If you or your company feels that you missed out on this initiative and would like to participate in a future game this season or next, football or basketball, PM me and let me know. The school takes donations like this on a regular basis and is always happy to place the tickets through its network of community organizations.

Go Mustangs!

Not trying to attack you here, just wondering: Why do we care so much about official NCAA records? I would rather just see the stadium filled.

2nd, thank you for all that you do for SMU. Please don't take my question the wrong way, but how could we come up short $50,000 (5,000 tickets x $10). I mean, some of the big boosters are prepared to do just about anything to help SMU to the next level. It's a good thing I'm not a conspiracy theorist, or I would say they intentionally wanted the crowds to look lackluster to prove some kind of point. I was going to chip in a few bucks, but I used the money to double up my commit to Thad's project.

I have no doubt there's more to the real story here, but I’m still a little surprised. Ok, venting officially over, I'm moving on now...Go SMU beat So Miss!

I don't take it the wrong way at all. We sold 25,000 tickets to 2 games. That's $250,000 and nothing to balk at. I know several ponyfans made good contributions, and some heavy hitters made impressive donations to get there too.

It would be nice to have collected the last $50,000, but I know some of the people that gave here also give to every other initiative throughout the year. I am sure each of you can relate to the fact that it seems there is always someone asking for money whether it is me, Cox, Meadows, 2nd Century, Morgan Campaign, Treadway21 (for Thad's video), The Billboard Group, etc. It's hard to give to absolutely every initiative.

No worries. I think this is a valid question. I would rather see the stadium filled too, but the official NCAA ticket sales and attendance records are important. Top of mind, these are regularly thrown around in the conference realignment shake up.

Most important to me, and clearly a hot topic around here lately, there is advertising at the stadium. The official attendance numbers are clearly what would be circulated to a potential advertiser at the stadium, on a ticket stub, in a program, etc. and would lead to additional athletic department revenue (which is way up this year by the way).
