Re: NYP: Big East to invite six
How about we beat the stuffing out of UCF this weekend. Then win out until the Houston game and go down there and beat the ranked Cougs in their house. I'm not saying that would impact the BE's business decision. But it would sure be a nice boost in the perception game re our program vs. the competition for these BE slots.

So in a matter of a couple of days that does a 180 and now we are looking from the outside? Some of you need to stop drinking the poison kook aide SMT loves to push.
If the scenario happens as described in the article we are fine. If for some reason we are left on the outside, we get in when Louisville and WV leave. If that doesn't happen or the BE implodes we are in a merger situation with MWC. I'm getting really tired of the self loathing and woe is me speak.
Exactly. The BB teams in the BE want us over Houston. Probably one of their conditions for going along with all this stuff.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

it's great that the votes of DePaul, Notre Dame, Providence, Villanova, Gtown, St Johns carry as much weight as say Louisville & USF
Re: NYP: Big East to invite six
apparently the big 12 is talking about adding uoh.
i like our chances in either the be or sec. i think we get in the be over uoh.
uoh may get in the big 12 but it will be over ut's dead body.
mizzous is a headache to the sec. like the guy on tony barnhart said, they couldn't even decide which way to go in the civil war. some went north and some went south.

as far as recruiting goes, UoH and TCU to Big12 would be the ultimate [southcarolina mascot]block to SMU

Can we stop with the SEC talk? please. It is embarassing, much like the way we make fun of Memphis for saying they belong there too.
I'd love for it to happen, believe me, but it ain't gonna happen fellas.

Re: NYP: Big East to invite six
UT's president stated in a DMN article this morning that he thinks a geographically compact conference is the best, so how does the big 12 get around to talking about Louisville and WV? SMU and Houston would get them to 12 and all would be well.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Air Force, Navy, Boise State and Central Florida appear to be locks to receive invites, with the remaining two spots "up for grabs" between Houston, SMU and the Temple Owls.
Despite a "strong objection" from Big East member and Philadelphia brethren Villanova University, it's possible the Owls will receive a 'football-only' invite from the conference.
Sources told The Post that Villanova expressed strong objection to sharing the Philadelphia market with Temple. Philadelphia, however, is home to Comcast, which logically favors more Philadelphia-based institutions.
If Temple does not receive an invite, it's likely that both SMU and Houston will.
I sure as hell hope Orsini and Turne have circled the troops and got people in high places making phone calls (and promises) to Big East decision makers. This could be a make or break moment in SMU Football History.

So, Nacho, are you saying Missouri was "politically correct?"

Of course, here is the obligatory "I sure hope Orsini and Turner aren't sitting on their hands post. Do you really think that they would simply sitting there with their fingers crossed saying "I hope they pick us!!!"
C'Mon.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...
