so much for mizzou to the sec.
we make sense for the sec. we'll see.
this may be why the be is weighing smu vs uoh. they want to see what we do as well as what uoh does.

Air Force, Navy, Boise State and Central Florida appear to be locks to receive invites, with the remaining two spots "up for grabs" between Houston, SMU and the Temple Owls.

Despite a "strong objection" from Big East member and Philadelphia brethren Villanova University, it's possible the Owls will receive a 'football-only' invite from the conference.

Sources told The Post that Villanova expressed strong objection to sharing the Philadelphia market with Temple. Philadelphia, however, is home to Comcast, which logically favors more Philadelphia-based institutions.

If Temple does not receive an invite, it's likely that both SMU and Houston will.

I sure as hell hope Orsini and Turne have circled the troops and got people in high places making phone calls (and promises) to Big East decision makers. This could be a make or break moment in SMU Football History.

Of course, here is the obligatory "I sure hope Orsini and Turner aren't sitting on their hands post. Do you really think that they would simply sitting there with their fingers crossed saying "I hope they pick us!!!"

C'Mon.

You obviously were not around in the Ken Pye era when Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Nor were you around in the years of wandering in the desert with Jim Copeland at the helm. I think we've come light years from that time as a program, and I HOPE we are being proactive and not apathetic, but nothing would surprise me about SMU anymore. Nothing. So, unless you know something I don't, which I doubt, your guess is as good as mine.

I have experienced only Copeland and Orsini, and my point is that what about Orsini's past suggests that he is sitting on his hands?
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

My non-existant sources tell me that we are finalizing details with the SEC and using the Big East as leverage.

Don't know about you guys, but I am getting pretty pumped for tomorrow!!!

People in the AD's office have not had a chance to really talk to him in the past 2 weeks as he is always on the phone (of course he could be calling that tarot card reader informercial lady from years ago for advice). He is not sitting on his hands.

I doubt he's sitting on his hands, just based on his history with SMU. But there is difference between simply coming into work and doing your job, and doing it with a sense of urgency and passion and pulling out ALL the stops to accomplish a goal. I'm just saying I'm HOPING he is doing the latter and that he realizes that this is a make or break situation for SMU. Since there is typically nothing that ever comes out of the ADs office here information-wise, I am stuck just hoping.

Reading recent statements from the Marshall, UAB and USM athletic directors, it appeared they were preparing their fans for the worst. All I am hearing is worst case we been in a similar situation to where we are now, but they believe we will be better off. And no, we will not be in the SEC

Where is the purple hippo when you need him. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Orsini's a hustler, I have absolutely no doubt he is working his [Gary Patterson] off to make something happen for SMU!

Circumstantial evidence is there to suggest a positive outcome.
