If Temple gets in that hurts Nova not only in basketball but financially for moving up to be an FBS team in the future (wont be the only Big East team in town). Nova could look to jump up as soon as they know what they are joining, but the conference should move to twelve before then. Perhaps Nova + Army (FB only?) to move to 14 in a few years, who knows.

Philly.com states: Big East is looking to go up to 12 FB schools and 20 BB schools.

This could mean a raid of top A10 teams to satisfy Big East BB schools to have a dominate east cost centric conference (depends on how many FB only teams join). This would further diminishing Temple's relevance since it would be left in a weaker A10 and further help Nova be the big team in the city. So, Nova has the most incentive to keep Temple out meaning both SMU and UH get in. On the other hand the whole conference may benefit from including Temple but as unstable as the Big East is, adding teams from current members back yards may not be worth the risk.
