5 Receiver Sets

Not sure how accurate this is, but to me it seems as the O-Line, JJ, and receivers are getting more comfortable, we are seeing more 5 receiver sets. A lot of it probably depends on who is on the defensive line as well.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Thompson/Holman, DJ, Beas, Worm, and TW on the field at the same time. I think we'll see a good amount of this tomorrow.

that would be impossible to have a 5 receiver set plus Line because including a QB that leaves only 4 Linemen. Line has to come off the field

Line could play on the line.

A lot of or 5 wide sets involve motioning line out of the backfield. We don't see it alot but line is a good pass catcher.

But if you have 5 wide you cannot have Line in the back field whether he goes in motion or not. When he motions we only have 4 wide. You will have 2 ends on the line and 3 receivers at least one yard off the line. They, with the QB, give you the maximum of 4 in the backfield. If you move Line to the line he would have to replace a guard, tackle, or center.

My point was that when you see us with 5 wide it is because line has motioned outside. I don't think we ahev ever had a pure five wide (subed line for WR before breaking the huddle)

Yes we do. The TD in OT against TCU had Cole Loftin in for Line. 5 wide and no back in the backfield. We have not done it much, but I get the feeling we may be doing more.

TD is Hawaii Bowl was a 5 Receiver set when they forgot to cover Beasley

Not me. Been in banking in one way or the other the past 40 years other than a 4 year stint as a private investigator in the 80's. Been on my current job the last 18 years.
