"SMU has received an invitation to the Big East Conference, a source with knowledge of the discussions said Friday night.

While the situation is still fluid, the next official step is for the Big East officials to meet ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ probably Monday ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and for a formal invitation to be issued.

ESPN is also saying now that SMU will receive a formal invitation to the Big East. AWESOME NEWS ! SMU IS GOING BIG TIME AGAIN ! For us guys that go back to the 70s and 80s this means a lot. What a great thing this will be for our school ! This time we are doing it right !
