Given all the criticism of June on this board. He had a very large part in getting SMU back into the BCS. The new BigEast revenue pays for his contract and much more. I think he believes he has more to accomplish here and I am excited to see what's next, but even if he were to leave tomorrow... he led the Mustangs back to CFB relevance again.

Shout out to the Bossman Steve O as well. I think we can all agree he is a gangsta.

There have been only a very few, that were this stupid. Come to think of it, looks like the "boo birds", flew south some time ago! :lol:

Why anyone would bag on a proven winner a known commodity is beyond me. June made SMU relevant the day he took the job. All of the sudden my co-workers in California started to follow the mustangs. All of my friends out here became observers, checking scores every Sunday. And all kept saying even in that first year, your are on your way, its going to keep getting better, just watch.

and you know what?

Now lets fill the ford and lay a smackdown on our cross division nemesis, and Beat these guys for once!

June is great, but wasn't the other finalist Paul Johnson? Obviously Paul had a 'better' offer, but he'd have us in the same position as June. Done remarkably well at Ga Tech

This thread should start with Orsini instead of June, as it all starts at the top with Orsini...ED would never have called Orsini if Orsini had not reached out to him first....Orsini keeps exceeding his grasp on what we are building here at SMU, and kudo's go out to him IMHO.

You are not just turning around a fooball program, but an entire university's culture--from the top down. It takes both an AD and HFC. Fortunately for SMU, after two genertions the stars were properly aligned.
