Tcu didn't start consistently breaking 30k in attendance until 3-4 years ago.
You need 5-6-7 years of winning to even sort of have graduates interested.
Only this year's jr class has seen winning. This yrs sr class came to smu and saw 1-11. Their interests moved on.

Good point westexSMU. What you're mentioning is a lot what Russ Potts did - & was successful at it!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

You gotta play the cards you have, and we are SMU after all: the school should award homecoming points for each Greek member that gets their student ID scanned going into any home game before homecoming. If there's one reliable incentive-based behavior at SMU (at least when I was there), it's the Pavlovian response by sorority girls to any opportunity for homecoming points. You would have full blown operations by each house to mobilize the troops. You would have attendance competitions amongst the houses.
It doesn't guarantee they'll stick around for the entire game, but it gets them off the Vard and into the stadium where they can see this great product for themselves. If there's one major visible difference between SMU and TCU student attendance (beyond sheer numbers), it's obviously still not entirely cool to attend games at SMU. At TCU it's socially acceptable and encouraged for attractive females to go to the games and wear school colors, and they have the same "rich, snobby" demographic student body that we do. You can see the difference in the stands.
If the girls go, the guys will too instead of going back to the frat houses to watch SEC and Big 12 games. If the Greeks go en masse, the entire perception of attending games changes for all students. And I'm not saying no Greeks go, but they represent a possible bloc of close to half the student body, and they drive the social culture at the school.
This doesn't solve the missing alumni problem, but students are very visible on TV on the east side of the stadium, they contribute more noise, and the alums respond well when the students are into the game.

Great idea! I say why stop at homecoming? Why not devise a system of points for the whole season and gets factored into the Panhellanic games that are held on campus (are they still held between sororities/frats?).
It makes sense to me.

I would rather be disappointed by what's in the stands than what's happening on the field. Was in the stands last time we met UCF. I'll take yesterday any day.
