Re: no invitations extended
Before drinking the Big East Kool-aid, there may be something else in the works. Just talked to a very close family friend who is a member of the LSU Board of Supervisors. He is also very politically active in Louisiana (and on a national level). A good source.
He indicated that the SEC is very interested in expanding into a large Texas media market and Dallas is number one on their list. He didn't go beyond that other than to say it is obvious who fits the Dallas market for the SEC to expand.

He must not have plans tonight since the Rangers aren't playing and wants to watch the potential meltdown on the board.

why wouldn't they be interested in us? Columbia,Missouri? Cmon, that does hardly anything for them at all. They really should have taken TCU before the Big12 did, but we have just as much or more upside than TCU long term.

poor kid. I felt terrible after reading his apology.
Re: no invitations extended
I also think it is interesting that Boise was so quick to talk yesterday while SMU and Houston have both been quiet so far. I'm sure Turner and Orsini are competent enough to handle this situation correctly. It will be interesting to see if the Big East's actions cause immediate movements by the SEC and Big Bevo
Re: no invitations extended
There is no f-ing way the SEC would take SMU, I am sorry. Watch a game on CBS on a saturday afternoon and tell me how we fit in there. This would be like skipping 10 steps.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

we have MORE upside....much more, don't know why long-time posters on PFs don't recognize this
Re: no invitations extended
I've only been associated with SMU since 2001. So all i know is really crappy and the recent rise. I just don't see the SEC wanting us right now. I understand that its possible, and if I am wrong i'll gladly eat some serious crow.

Wow, you mean to tell me the SEC is interested in expanding their Texas footprint and they would consider SMU over Waco or Lubbock? Shocking!!!
Look, I personally don't see us going to SEC right now, but for you posters who think we have as much chance of joining as winning the lotto, you are crazy.
I can see OU, I can see Fl State, after those 2 I see a drop-off. SMU is as good IMO as any other remaining choice because of DALLAS. Certainly on par (I think better) than Mizzo.
And home attendance issues, our biggest negative, would be solved.

If we become a public school and increase enrollment to 40,000 and then I will agree with you.
