SMU spirit in Iraq

Postby Dutch » Fri Oct 29, 2004 3:37 pm

Just nice to know that some people still care about SMU, no matter who the football coach is...

David Bowers, SMU Alum, on top of the Al Faw Palace. He will not be able to make homecoming this year as he is protecting our freedom overseas. He hopes to make it back for his 5 year reunion next year.

Please keep him in mind.

Kudos to you Bob. That shows a lot of class.

From what I see:

Great picture.
Great American.
Great Mustang.

Stampede, if you send that present to him, please include a note to tell him there are a whole lot of PonyFans who have him in our thoughts, and are wishing him good health and a speedy and safe return home to his friends and family.

Only this photo could bring me to post on the football forum just this once until the 'two-in-a-row' pledge becomes reality. I pray for our fellow Mustang's safety and welfare in Iraq. Here's hoping he returns home ASAP! Thank you, David. Your commitment is appreciated more than you know. God speed.

David we are praying for you.......

Thanks for making my day!

What a wonderful photograph to bring everything into perspective.

If that picture is not on the "jumbo-tron" at our next home game someone should be fired!

If nothing else we should have that picture up on the score board at least during the national anthem.

We will keep David in our prayers and pray for the day when David is given a standing ovation at an SMU Football or Basketball Game holding that same SMU flag.

David if somehow you read this message, please know the American people and the Iraqi People will be forever in your debt.

God Bless You.

Excellent idea, SD!! Who do we need to talk to to make that happen? Bob S., can you talk to somebody who handles the jumbotron over at Ford?

My deepest gratitude and prayers go out to David.

KEEP AN EYE ON THE JUMBOTRON AT TODAY'S HOMECOMING GAME! THERE'S A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT THIS PHOTO WILL BE DISPLAYED AT SOME POINT DURING THE GAME...POSSIBLY DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM!

I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH SHAWN HEILBRON IN THE ATHLETIC OFFICE AND HE SAID IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S A 'DONE DEAL'!

GO MUSTANGS! AND BRING HOME THE TROOPS ASAP!
