A Direct Blow Towards TCU

Post by ponyfan777 »

Coach Jones said after our 1st ever win over UCF, that next weeks game at Southern Miss. will be our toughest road test, yet this year. That's a direct blow to the tiny little frogs of TCU and I love it!

And he is right. USM is currently ranked ahead of the Frogs. USM has more at stake than an Iron Skillet. USM has one conference loss and another makes the East Championship very unlikely. And they will have a stadium of 38,000 Deliverance wannabes that are interested in our players' pretty teeth and with a massive inferiority complex cheering them on.

And we have never beaten USM so they have that tradition as well.

While it may have been a shot at the Frogs (although I don't think so), I think the Aggies might have something to say about that "toughest road test."
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

June gives us the same coach speak every week. I dont think its a direct shot at any team we have played already.

He just likes to make sure the kids focus on each game saying "the team we are playing is the best" or "the running back is the best" or "the QB should be a first rounder". So far, so good.

Ouch!...more gutsy rhetoric that will unquestionably

fan the flames for next season. Geez!

I think there is enough healthy rivalry without having to invent something. He clearly is not trying to kick TCU in the shins - since A&M is by far the hardest game we will have this year (unless bowl game produces something harder). TCU will be probably 4th hardest after aggie, Houston, & USM. Thats just factual - not a shot at anyone. The rankings would support that assessment

has a coach ever said "next week's road game will be easier than the road game two weeks ago"? it's always coach speak. just like GP said he was facer a better team in SDSU after we sent them home off their own field.

while beating TCU on the road is a nice (and, big) win, winning on the road IN YOUR CONFERENCE is always a bigger game in the broader perspective. to be able to do that, then do that consistently, is what leads to a championship. right?
I believe that is what JJ would have been alluding to.

completely agree. the fact that this is a conference game makes it a much bigger test in the outcome of our season.
