PLEASE STOP!!!!!!!!!!!! This is getting out of hand. You are just "preaching to the choir" on PonyFans folks. Everyone on here either goes to the games, or would if they lived close enough. We are a small school and we all want it to get better. We must have 10 posts on this. We all know it is bad.

It seems like every body around here is so used to monday morning quarterbacking after a loss that they don't know how to handle a good win.

Agree.. Spend your energy talking to neighbors or friends...getting them to come to next game with you.
15k SMU fans
Half bring 3 friends/neighbors or 22.5K for 37.5k +
Next home game is 11/5. Plenty of time. Next after that is 11/12 vs Navy. Easy sell.
Get on it.

Recruit people. $10 tickets are not the answer.
Lets enjoy the win boys and girls. It has been a while. We are ahead of schedule in my opinion.

Re: Attendance Posts
94 needs to start the ONE "official attendance issues" post and it will probably run several hundred pages by the end of the season.
One additional comment I haven't heard form anyone...relating to keeping this all in perspective:
SMU claims roughly 10,000 students and we play in a stadium 3 times that size that we can't fill. Relatively speaking, how do the the larger public schools compare? Texas has close to 50,000 students but they don't have 150,000 seats (the question is whether they could fill those seats when they play an opponent that brings very few fans?) If our stadium had the same roughly 1.5 to 1 ratio of stadium seats to students as many of the big boys do, we'd have a 15k stadium and I dare say we could fill it with our own fans for most, if not all games

We have closer to 6k undergrad with another 4 grad students whose affiliations lie elsewhere. Other 10k schools that do better are TCU, USC, and the Miami.

Re: Attendance Posts
USC does better because there is no NFL in LA and for a long time USC was the defacto pro team. Miami does ok because they have a 30 years of success inluding national championships, I would be curious how they are doing now in attendance as they start to falter. TCU has had 6 10 win season and are just now getting to the point of consistant sell outs how were they doing attendance wise 6 years ago?
Online
USC is in a bigger market, but they have to share it with UCLA (which is closer in distance than SMU is to TCU).
However, USC's student population (undergrad + grad) is 37,000. http://about.usc.edu/facts/

Re: Attendance Posts
Is there anyone on here that insists that can't - and shouldn't - do better than we're doing???
I've heard from his mouth and others in the administration that it is a priority. (2ndandlong on Orsini's commitment to ticket sales)

Re: Attendance Posts
dude - we are all in agreement, everyone wants more fans....
Do you want us to go protest with signs in front of the Hall of Champions?

Re: Attendance Posts
GiddyUp - Great idea, but do you know how much signs can cost???? Are you insane. You just don't under the financial pressure SMU Athletics is under. Do you know the new turf cost $5,000,000? We can't afford that!!
Let's just wait until we are in a conference that matters .... because that's really the problem right?
And I am sure that CoxMustangfan would be happy to donate his time and marketing expertise to a client (Steve O), who obviously doesn't give a [deleted] about whether anyone attends the games (aside from big donors of course).

You keep quoting that like a kindergartner. You seem to find a way to lose credibility with every post.
Ignore the FACT that ticket sales have steadily grown since he joined SMU.

SMU 2010 Season Total 164,602 Average Game Attendance 23,515
SMU 2009 Season Total 128,085 Average Game Attendance 21,348
SMU 2008 Season Total 118,681 Average Game Attendance 19,780

(Verified by Bernard Madoff Accounting Firm - LLC) The numbers are real -- trust me!
P.S. 2ndandlong -- Every time you show these attendance figures, everyone who goes to the game cringes a little. Who do you think you're kidding? You lost your credibility on this issue a long (2ndandlong) time ago
