Big 12 just needs to add BYU, SMU and Houston and get it overwith. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

This news dampens some optimism for the Big East, which appeared to be gaining momentum toward reviving its football fortunes. The exits of Syracuse, Pittsburgh and T.C.U. have the league struggling for survival, and both Louisville and West Virginia are considered strong candidates, along with Brigham Young, for Big 12 expansion.

The Big East has made it clear that it would like to add Boise State, Air Force and Navy in football and Central Florida, Southern Methodist and Houston in all sports. The potential problem for the Big East is that it needs stability to remain attractive to potential new members.

Neinas said recently that if Missouri left the Big 12 would would settle at either 10 or 12 teams. The Big 12 Chairman Burns Hargis, the president of Oklahoma State, said on Saturday that he would prefer a 12-team league, but also acknowledged that his preference may not matter. The loss of Missouri would leave the Big 12 at nine schools, meaning a likely expansion of one or three schools, which will prompt more uncertainty and shuffling on the collegiate landscape.

It would be nice if Big XII would just take BYU and be done. Doubt that would ever happen, though.

It has been fully expected. Did you honestly believe all of the schools would stay>?

Also breaks the logjam that has been holding every conference up

Yup, gets all of this rolling so at least we'll know where the BE will be sooner rather than later.

Someone explain to me what Missouri gains with SEC over what it has with BIG 12? How much MORE is more? More what?

Would be best case for the SMU. I also wonder about TV money. I'm sure that the Big 12 goes to the TV execs first and ask- if we were to add such and such how much more money could we get?

Does the Big 12 really get a lot more money for adding Louisville and West Virginia and having to divide that a bit more?

How much more do they get for BYU? How about BYU football only?

If the Big XII gets BYU only that would be awesome. If Louisville and WVU go, that's gonna make for a weak Big East. Adding SMU, Houston, UCF, and Boise State will guarantee that it'll be a decent football conference, but losing WVU in football (and Louisville in basketball) will suuuuuck.

We'll see. Big 12 is dysfunctional. There is a reason why Nebraska, Colorado, ATM and mizzou have left. I hope anyone considering that conference understands what a deal with the devil entails.

Unfortunately, between the basketball only schools and the rest of the big east schools, you might say the big east is somewhat dysfunctional too.
