My wife and I went to the State Fair of Texas today. I wore my SMU Football t-shirt. As we got off of the DART train at the fair's entrance, a young man working the gate said "Alright! Go Mustangs!" I asked him if he attended SMU games and he said, "I used to go to basketball games when I was playing hoops at Lake Highlands High." I said, "You need to come back and watch the football and basketball games." His reply: "Yes, I do. They're winning now!" I said to my wife, "Too bad I don't have some kind of 'FREE PASS' or 'DISCOUNT TICKET' to give him."
Later in the day we were inside the Hall of State looking at the historical items on display and I noticed a gentleman wearing a "Pony Up!" t-shirt. I casually said, "I like seeing that t-shirt on a Mustang fan!" His reply was "Well, I borrowed it from my friend who went to school there. I didn't. We went to the game last Saturday (against UCF) and I had a blast! I'm actually from Memphis! But I loved the gameday experience on the Boulevard and really enjoyed watching the Mustangs win! In fact, I'm thinking about moving to Dallas. If I do, I'll be at the games!"
