Thoughts on the game
Ok So it is nice to have something to talk about outher than a loss or something but I want peoples thoughts/reflections on the game.
Here are my 2 cents
McD: I thought he played pretty well but I think he nees better ball partection, He needs to understand when he is going to get hit and try and avoid floating the ball out there I think we were lucky not tohave 2 more interceptions. Also just once I'd like to get through a game where he doesn't miss a wide open deep WR.
WR's: glad to see cole come back and look good we are a better team when he is playing. I hope the coachs aren't afraid to role in his back up because Jeremy is cabable and I think it would be could to limit cole a bit and protect that knee. I'm starting to get worried Darius might leave after this year (please stay).
RB: I think we mostly have to credit UCF for largely containing line but also I think June was basicaly conceding the running battle a little bit. Guy is still a beast and was doing a great job blocking.
special teams: Yea crawford is getting a lot of attention but I was actually also very pleased with our kicker. He did a good job getting the ball deep on all but one occasion when he was kicking into the wind. I also thought June should have gone for it instead of the long FG because of the wind (he still had the distance but was a bit wide).
Defense: I don't know why we fade so much in the 4th quater. Maybe it's just fatigue but we actually do a good job rotating through out the game (which it self is nice because it means we have depth). I'm worried what UH will do to us. Also some of our DB's had chances at some picks but either couldn't or didn't try to make the play. UCF's first td should have been picked off but Sorrel to abad angle.
Overall: a great team win, but again I think there is a lot of room for improvement. I would like us to play just one game where we are hitting on all cylanders for 60 minutes. If we do that we will beat anyone we play and probably put up 60 points doing it. We don't do that so i willbe neverous going into and through every game we play. It's also nice not to have to talk about why we lost.

Thoughts on the game
All good points, I think.
I love that McD is making the deep reads. Having that go-to slot receiver really opens up the vertical game.
Kickoffs were deep when with the wind. No hang time, but when they clear the end zone it doesn't matter.
Zach answered almost every time he was called. Those weren't goal line Tds he scored. UCF was dialed in to him.

Re: Thoughts on the game
Have been happy to see our special teams be a strength instead of having to look trhough my hands covering my face in fear of the inevitable poor coverage or fumbled kick reception. That is the biggest area of imporvement.
Run stop was great for almost three qtrs - will get serious test at Navy - but this was a good run offense we contained for most of the game.
Do we have to pass on EVERY third and 1? How about we just control the ball and let Line be Line and get that yard for us?
Receivers and McD starting to really click - we are tough to plan for if you are the opposing D - the field has to feel huge when they dont know ion any given play if it is a short pass, a Line run or a 50 yard bomb

4th quarter defense is my concern against USM. We get tired and lose focus.

Thoughts on the game
Agree with pony_law on the field goal, we were deep enough in their territory to go for it, and, with that wind, FG did not look like a good option.
Not much to complain about overall. Nice feeling.

I doubt Darius would even be drafted if he left after this season. Any reason younthink he may leave?

That's my concern as well. Although I think it has more to do with tired legs than lack of focus. I think they're focused on what they have to do. Their is just too many tired legs out there at that point in the game. Just my opinion. Forcing some turnovers would definitely help this defense stay off of the field. We just don't seem to get many of those.

DJ will not leave early. If he has a really outstanding senior year I could see him going in the 5-7 round range.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Re: Thoughts on the game
Here is another thought:
We struggle when teams throw it all over the place because while our outside corners are very good in coverage, Rogers and our safties aren't great. Banjo looked a little silly against Swope against A&M and Sorrell struggled of course in the UCF game. When we pressure the quarterback, it hides some of the issues, but if we don't get pressure, there are gaps over the middle and against the third WR.
Jay Scott really helps us back there. I do wish that we would use a third corner instead of a third saftey in nickel, and I would also like to see 30 in for Rogers at MLB in passing situations to give us some more athleticism down the middle. But the fact that we aren't doing either of those things probably point to some bigger issues...
That said, we are fantastic against the run and base packages and taking away half of an offense goes a long way every game.

Laken Litman
#SMU WR Cole Beasley (knee) didn't prac today. Missed TCU, played vs. UCF, but tweaked injury. Said feels like he did at this time last wk.
