Terrence Mann/Detroit Cooley

Post by R.B.J »

Whatever happened to Terrence Mann? He was the number #1 ranked player in the state of Michigan and the #1 ranked player in all of the midwest. Michigan and Michigan State were both pissed that he chose S.M.U. Terrence also graduated from my alma-mater, Detroit Cooley, 7 years before me, and he is still looked upon as a Detroit legend today. He was a genuinely nice guy and all of the neighborhood childeren looked up to him. I remember he got drafted by the dolphins, but never made the squad. Someone told me that he still lives in the Dallas area, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Helped foil a burglary at Campisi's Restaurant about a decade ago during which he was shot but recovered.

RBJ, I was friends w/TMann back in my SMU days. He was a great guy, and a solid player. We kept in touch for a while after graduation. He was drafted by miami, and was kept on the practice squad for a year. He moved back to Dallas. One of the last times we spoke was in 1991. He was part of a party at Campisi's, when some people had tried to rob some of the waitstaff. Former MLB umpire Steve Palermo and T Mann were part of the group to break up the attempt. He eventually recovered. Shortly thereafter we lost contact. Other folks I know said he had stayed in the area.

He operated a gym in Plano called Top Achievers for a number of years. He had a select basketball club called TA that operated out of that gym. Had big plans to build a larger gym somewhere off of George Bush toll road but I don't think it ever happened..........

He and his family are still in Dallas and doing great. I went to the Northwestern State game with him a few weeks back. One of the all time funniest, nicest guys you will ever meet.
