Rice and Future OOC
I hope after we move conferences we continue to play Rice. Since I have been an SMU fan I have always considered Rice to be our 2nd biggest rival after TCU. I would like to see TCU, Rice, one other Big 12 school ( Baylor or Tech preferably) and then either UNT, Texas State or UTSA on our OOC schedule every year. I have no problem playing 2-3 non BCS teams on our OOC schedule once we are BCS. As far as future conference rivals, I see Houston, UCF and Navy (Frank Ganz trophy) as being our in conference rivals. Possibly Louisville as well. But the game with Houston will be big every year. What do y'all think?
Re: Rice and Future OOC
North Texas, UTEP, TCU, and a Big XII school would be my vote, mainly because of the fans UTEP brings
Re: Rice and Future OOC
Agree that we have to schedule Rice and TCU every year in all sports. Also would like to see Baylor or Tech and UNT or UTSA or big time money game such as Miami, USC, Notre Dame, etc.

Guess I have a different take. Play OOC games in faraway lands. Get national exposure and increase the national Mustang following. The larger the national fan base, the better for us. Playing region competition doesn't get that national attention. SMU got a lot of national attention when we played ND, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and others long ago. And that increased our national exposure and kept us on the football map.

Isn't playing the eastern BE schools playing in faraway lands?
Bigger question for me is if Navy joins BE, who do we replace them with in OOC since we have a long-term deal with them.

Play UNT, UTSA, local cupcakes that will bring a crowd....nothing to prove once we are in AQ...need the W's to make sure we go to bowl every year even in rebuilding years...

Big East and playing in the NYC Philly area would be a huge plus. I was think Midwest and Pacific coast. Depending on the number of conference games, one could play a regional OOC team or two. But I would prefer not to load up on region teams and play bigger names around the country.

I dont disagree...just think we are already going to be playing in some major markets, vs teams like houston, boise, air force, Cincy,
ect... No need to travel and play oregon or whomever...lets fill ford OOC and beat the shti out of some people to get ready for conference slate

I like playing TCU, Rice and any one of Baylor/Tech/UTEP/Tulsa....then throw a cupcake in there.

Drop Rice, they bring nothing to the table other than we've played them for ages.
I'd rather sign up UTSA and UTEP.

I was just going to say Notre Dame, as there will now be tie ins to ND with other sports in BE and am certain they would like to get some more recruiting options in Texas. We could play in the Cotton Bowl as well, and we WOULD get more than 22,000 for ND anywhere we play.
Could care less about Rice, except if we play them in baseball!

They are about to have an annual series with UT to replace the A&M Thanksgiving game
Re: Rice and Future OOC
I'd like to play - Rice, TCU (rivalry games), Notre Dame (national exposure game), and a UNT/UTSA local game that would bring a ton of people to the school and provide an easy "W"
